Calcitum (one jin, select the best quality and grind finely into powder) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, three liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, five liang, processed by stir-frying with honey or water) Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, three liang) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, three liang) Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, three liang, processed by stir-frying) Congrong (Cistanche Deserticola, six liang) Fuling (Poria, five liang) Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, four liang, remove the heart) Shuyu (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, six liang) Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, two liang)
The above eleven medicinal materials are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Use five sheng of water to first cook millet, obtaining seven sheng of porridge. Add seven liang of the powder, stir well to mix evenly, allow it to cool slightly, and let a thirsty cow drink until satisfied. If insufficient, provide more water; administer once daily. For thirst occurring at other times, plain water may be drunk. In the early morning, consume cow's milk, either raw or cooked, according to preference. The cow must be between three and seven years old, pure yellow in color, which is considered superior; cows of other colors are inferior. The milk should be allowed to be drunk by the calf regularly; if the calf refuses to drink, the milk possesses "moving qi" properties and is unsuitable for consumption. Raise this milking cow with cleanliness, washing, brushing, and adequate feeding, strictly following proper care methods. Strictly avoid feeding garlic, pork, fish, raw/cold foods, stale or foul-smelling items.
For individuals who have frequently suffered from severe illnesses, resulting in extreme weakness and emaciation that cannot recover spontaneously, this formula provides very effective tonification. The formula is as follows:
Sheng Gouqi Gen (Fresh Lycii Radicis Cortex, finely cut one dou, boil in one dan of water to obtain six dou five sheng, clarify and filter) Baiyang Gu (White Sheep Bone, one set)
Combine the above two ingredients and decoct over low heat to obtain five da sheng. Take with warm wine, finishing within five days. This is not a minor tonic. Another variant uses only Gouqi Gen. Observe dietary restrictions against raw/cold, sour/slippery, and greasy foods for seven days.
Baiyang Tou Ti (White Sheep Head and Hooves, one set, burn with straw fire until yellow-red, tightly plug nostrils with clean cotton) Hujiao (Piperis Fructus, one liang) Bibo (Long Pepper Fruit, one liang) Jiangjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens dried, one liang) Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus, one sheng, chopped) Xiangchi (Prepared Soybean, two sheng)
Boil the sheep head and hooves in water until half-cooked. Add the medicinal materials and continue boiling until extremely soft. Remove the bones. Consume appropriately on an empty stomach. Eat one set per day, stopping after seven sets. Avoid raw/cold foods, lead compounds (Qian Dan), fruits, melons, fatty/greasy foods, miscellaneous meats, wet dough, white wine, sticky foods, garlic, and all foods causing blood stasis. Also strictly avoid strong sourness, slippery foods, the "Five Pungent Spices," stale/foul items, and oils from pork, chicken, and fish for seven days.
