Treatise: One Section; Prescriptions: Seven Sections; Moxibustion Method: One Section
The treatise states: There is also a method where the saliva of gu insects is mixed to create gu poison, which is then placed in food and drink for others to consume. Only this specific type of gu poison causes death after accumulating over many years.
To treat someone poisoned by gu: If a person has been made ill by someone practicing gu magic, and if the name of the practitioner is known, one should use a prescription that invokes and expels them by calling their names:
Generally, the symptoms of gu poisoning include severe pain in the heart and abdomen, as if something is gnawing at them, or vomiting blood and passing blood. If not treated urgently, it will devour all five zang organs, leading to death. The verification method is as follows: spit into water; if the saliva sinks, it indicates gu poisoning. Take decayed drum skin, burn it to ash, and administer one cun bi (a small measuring spoon) with water. Soon, the patient will spontaneously call out the name of the gu practitioner. Informing the patient of this name leads to recovery.
Prescription for treating gu poisoning characterized by an abdomen hard as stone, blue-yellow complexion, dribbling urination, and unpredictable symptom variations:
Muyangpi (Cortex Ovis/Aries Skin, five square inches) Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, one liang, crushed) Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, one liang) Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis, one liang) Zhizi (Fructus Gardeniae, seven fruits, broken apart) He (Nelumbinis Folium/Lotus Leaf, four and a half liang) Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan, one liang)
Crush the above seven ingredients, decoct in five sheng of water until one and a half sheng remains, and divide into three doses.
Prescription for treating gu poison:
Humu Bei Yin Bai Pi (White bark of Quercus variabilis from the shady north side, one large handful, five cun long). Decoct in three sheng of water until one sheng remains. Take on an empty stomach; vomiting will occur immediately.
Another prescription: Burn [missing character] skin to ash, administer one cun bi with water. Recovery ensues.
Another prescription: Humu Bei Yin Bai Pi (White bark of Quercus variabilis from the shady north side), Tao Gen Pi (Cortex Pruni Persicae Radicis, five liang each); [missing character] Pi Hui (Ash of [missing character] skin), Luan Fa Hui (Ash of tangled hair, one cun bi each); Sheng Mazhi Zhi (Juice of raw hemp seeds, five sheng).
Take the above five ingredients. First, decoct the Huapi and Tao Gen strongly in water to obtain one sheng of juice. Mix this juice with the ashes and other powders (one cun bi amount). After the patient has eaten a little, administer one da sheng. Have the patient walk one hundred steps. Soon, vomit into a basin of water. Throw chicken feathers into the vomit-water basin. Shapes resembling ox snot, calf placentas, and various gu forms should emerge, indicating recovery.
Prescription for treating Mao Gui (Cat Ghost) evil:
Burn the head of a cat that died in the twelfth lunar month to ash. Administer one qian bi with well water once daily. Immediate recovery occurs; this is highly effective.
Prescription for treating Mao Gui (Cat Ghost) evil:
Xiangsi Zi (Semen Abrus, one seed) Badou (Semen Crotonis Tiglii, one seed, skin removed) Bimazi (Semen Ricini, one seed) Zhusha (Cinnabaris, half liang) Qiaofen (Calamina/Basic Zinc Carbonate, three fen)
Pulverize the above five ingredients. Mix with beeswax to form pills. Wearing the pill prevents possession. For those already possessed, take one pill the size of a hemp seed with wine; this is beneficial.
Another prescription: Apply moxibustion extensively (thousand burns) to the painful area. The evil spirit will naturally depart; this is excellent.
