治发落不生 用麻子一升熬黑、压油敷头，则发渐长。

又方 用酸石榴、五倍子、芝麻叶同杵碎，绢袋盛，于铁器内盛浸，掠发自黑。
治髭发白 用赤石脂、川椒、辰砂、茯神、乳香各一两为末，枣肉丸如桐子大。空心酒
下三十丸。兼明目延寿，老少皆可服。
治发落 用生姜皮、人参各一两为末。每用生姜片蘸药于落处擦之，二日一次用。

治疗使胡须和头发变黑：用自己脱落的乱发洗净，每一两头发加入花椒五十粒，用泥封固，放入炉中用大火煅烧至像黑色的糟粕状，细研成粉，用酒送服一钱匕（古代量词，约等于现代的一小勺），胡须和头发就会长得黑亮。
治疗须发变白：用覆盆子榨取汁液，熬合成膏状，涂抹在须发上，可防止变白。
又一方：用金樱子和铁粉研磨，拔去白发后敷于患处，长出的新发会是黑色的。也可以用来染发。
治疗年轻人头发变白：拔去白发，在白蜜涂抹毛孔中，长出的头发就是黑色的。如果还不出黑发，捣碎梧桐子涂抹，必定能长出黑发。
治疗胡须和头发干燥：用小麦麸半升，半夏用水汤洗过，沉香半两。加水两碗，生姜一两（带皮）细切，一同煎煮，滤去药渣，取清汁，加入少许冰片、麝香，搅拌均匀。用来清洗胡须和头发，自然会变得润泽。
治疗胡须发黄发红，染一次即变黑：用生姜半斤，生地黄一斤，分别洗净，捣烂取自然汁，保留药渣。将十茎不蛀的皂角去掉黑皮和筋络，在前述药汁中蘸湿，用火烤黄，再蘸再烤，直到药汁用完为止。然后将药渣一同放入罐内，用文火存性（保留药物固有性质）。
又一方：用熊脂涂抹头发，梳理散开头发，让人趴在床底下，趴在地上大约一顿饭的时间，出来时头发就会全黑。不超过一升熊脂，效果显著。
又一方：用酸石榴、五倍子、芝麻叶一同捣碎，装入绢袋，放在铁器内浸泡，用来刷洗头发，头发会变黑。
治疗胡须和头发变白：用赤石脂、川椒、辰砂、茯神、乳香各一两，研成粉末，用枣肉制成如梧桐子大小的丸剂。空腹时用酒送服三十丸。兼有明目延寿的功效，老少皆可服用。
Treatment for alopecia where hair fails to regrow: Use one sheng (approx. 1000ml) of sesame seeds, stir-fried until black, pressed for oil, and applied to the scalp; hair will gradually grow back.
Another prescription: Crush mulberry leaves to extract juice, apply daily; hair will naturally emerge.
Another prescription: Apply sheep manure to the affected area; hair will gradually grow out.
Treatment for loss of beard and hair, promoting regrowth: Use half liang (approx. 30g) each of Black Aconite Root (Fuzi), Vitex Fruit (Manjingzi), and Biota Seed (Baiziren). Grind into powder, mix with fat from a black hen, pound and grind until dry, then store in a ceramic box.
Treatment to darken beard and hair: Wash your own shed loose hair thoroughly. For every liang (approx. 30g) of hair, add fifty grains of Sichuan pepper (Jiaojiao). Seal with mud and calcine in a furnace over high fire until resembling black dregs. Grind finely into powder. Take one qianbi (approx. 3-5g) with wine; the beard and hair will grow dark and lustrous.
Treatment for whitening of beard and hair: Extract juice from Raspberry (Fupenzi), boil down into a paste, and apply to prevent whitening.
Another prescription: Grind Rose Apple (Jinyingzi) with iron powder. Pluck out white hairs, apply the mixture to the follicles; new growth will be black. This can also be used as a hair dye.
Treatment for premature graying in youth: Pluck out white hairs, apply white honey into the pores; new hair will grow black. If it does not grow black, crush Chinese Parasol Tree fruit (Wutongzi) and apply; black hair will surely grow.
Treatment for dryness of beard and hair: Use half sheng of wheat bran, Pinellia Tuber (Banxia) washed with water decoction, and Agarwood (Chenxiang) half liang. Add two bowls of water and one liang of fresh ginger (with skin), finely sliced. Decoct together, strain, and collect the clear liquid. Add a small amount of borneol (Naobing) and musk (Shexiang), mix well. Wash the beard and hair; they will naturally become moist and glossy.
Treatment for yellowish-red beard and hair, turning black after one application: Use half jin (approx. 500g) of fresh ginger and one jin (approx. 500g) of Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang). Wash clean, crush to extract natural juice, retaining the dregs. Take ten stalks of non-boring soap pod (Zaorao), remove black skin and tendons. Dip the pods into the aforementioned juice, roast until yellow, dip again and roast again, until the juice is exhausted. Place the dregs into a jar and heat gently to preserve their medicinal nature (cunxing).
Another prescription: Apply bear fat to the hair, comb through to loosen the hair. Have the person lie prone on the floor under the bed for the duration of one meal. Upon emerging, the hair will be completely black. One sheng of fat is sufficient; this is verified.
Another prescription: Pound sour pomegranate, Chinese Gall (Wubeizi), and Sesame Leaf together into a fine powder. Place in a silk bag and soak in an iron vessel. Brush the hair with the solution; the hair will turn black.
Treatment for whitening of beard and hair: Use Red Kaolin (Chishizhi), Sichuan pepper (Chuanjiao), Cinnabar (Chensha), Poria (Fushen), and Frankincense (Ruxiang), one liang each. Grind into powder. Form pills the size of Chinese parasol tree fruits using date flesh. Take thirty pills on an empty stomach with wine. This also benefits vision and longevity; suitable for both young and old.
Treatment for hair loss: Use Ginger Skin (Shengjiangpi) and Ginseng Root (Renshen), one liang each. Grind into powder. Each time, use a slice of fresh ginger to dip into the powder and rub the bald area. Apply once every two days.
