Patient Zhang, aged 56. A mass the size of a palm has risen on the left side of the large abdomen (lower abdomen), with significantly reduced appetite and a faint and fine pulse. This is due to unsmooth emotions causing stagnation of Qi and Blood, and the form of Five Accumulations (Zang-organ accumulations) has already manifested. Fortunately, from the beginning of spring to early winter, it has not become a deep-rooted chronic disease. Treatment should first push the Qi aspect, following the intent of Yueju Wan (Yueju Pill).
Prescription: Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu, 1 qian), Immature Bitter Orange (Zhishi, 1.5 qian), Medicated Leaven (Shenqu, 2 qian, stir-fried), Chuanxiong Rhizome (Fuxiong, 1.5 qian), Cyperi Rhizome (Xiangfu, 2 qian), Gardeniae Fructus (Heizhi, 1.5 qian), Green Tangerine Peel (Qingpi, 1 qian), Ginger Juice (Laojiangzhi, 1 spoon).
After taking three doses of the previous prescription, the depression was opened and Qi moved; the有形 (有形 - tangible/solid) accumulation has already become softer and smaller. Taking advantage of this momentum to push away the stagnation, the pulse is extremely fine, which is entirely due to the coagulation and stagnation of Qi and Blood.
Prescription: Curcuma Zedoaria Rhizome (Ezhushu, 1.5 qian, stir-fried), Immature Bitter Orange (Zhishi, 1.5 qian), Medicated Leaven (Shenqu, 1 qian, stir-fried), Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi, 0.5 qian), Cyperi Rhizome (Xiangfu, 3 qian), Green Tangerine Peel (Qingpi, 1 qian), Magnolia Bark (Noupu, 1 qian, stir-fried), add Ginger Juice (Laojiangzhi, 1 spoon) and Salt (Yan, a little).
Furthermore, the Classic says: "For large accumulations and聚 (masses), stop when more than half of the pathogen has been eliminated." Now that the disease has gone by six or seven parts, and food intake has doubled, the condition has shifted from obstruction to smoothness (Pi turning into Tai). Setting up defenses against thieves (metaphor for preventing residual pathogens or protecting healthy Qi) seems indispensable.
Prescription: Codonopsis Radix (Dangshen, 1.5 qian), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizome (Baizhu, 1.5 qian), Angelica Sinensis Radix (Guishen, 1.5 qian), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 1 qian), Cyperi Rhizome (Xiangfu, 2 qian), Curcuma Longa Rhizome (Yujin, 1 qian), Cinnamon Twig Wood (Guizhimu, 0.5 qian), Prepared Licorice Root (Zhigancao, 0.4 qian).
Ms. Mou, postpartum onset of abdominal pain and loose stools, occasionally accompanied by dysentery-like discharge. The pulse is fine and deficient. Treatment should follow what the Spleen favors.
Prescription: Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu, 8 fen), Magnolia Bark (Noupu, 8 fen), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 8 fen), Poria (Fuling, 2 qian), Rice Sprout (Guya, 2 qian), Amomum Villosum Seed Shell (Sharenqiao, 1.5 qian), White Peony Root (Baishao, 1.5 qian), Prepared Licorice Root (Zhigancao, 0.4 qian).
After four doses, most symptoms were cured. Then Xiangsha Liujun Zi Tang (Xiangsha Six Gentlemen Decoction) was used to achieve complete recovery.
Ms. Mou, postpartum dry and hard stool. Treatment should tonify both Qi and Blood.
Prescription: Astragalus Membranaceus Radix (Huangqi, 4 qian, honey-fried), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi, 5 qian), Angelica Sinensis Radix (Guishen, 2 qian), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 1 qian), Perilla Fruit (Suzi, 1.5 qian), Roasted Ginger (Weijiang, 2 slices).
After four doses, not only was the bowel movement unblocked, but the spirit also became vigorous.
Ms. Xu, aged 27. Only three days after delivery, she experienced abdominal pain and fever. This is due to lochia retention and obstruction. Treatment should follow the Shenghua method (method of generating new blood and resolving stasis).
Prescription: Angelica Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong), Motherwort Herb (Yimucao), Cyperi Rhizome (Xiangfu), Liquidambar Fruit (Tangqiuzi), Processed Ginger (Paojiang), Prepared Licorice Root (Zhigancao).
Two doses resulted in a cure.
