It regulates Qi and harmonizes the middle, opens the stomach and stops vomiting, removes foul odors, treats cholera with vomiting and diarrhea, cardiac and abdominal colic, and pathogenic stagnation in the Upper and Middle Jiao. [Zi Su] (Perillae Fructus/Herba, 紫苏) Warm in nature, induces sweating and releases the muscle layer, disperses wind-cold, benefits the Lung and directs Qi downward, calms wheezing, and calms the fetus. Indulging in it morning and evening consumes true Qi; ancients called fragrant herbs the cause of diseases among the wealthy, and this is one such example. Zi Su Zi drives out cold, directs Qi downward, resolves phlegm, benefits the diaphragm, moistens the Lung and Heart, and stops cough. It is stir-fried and crushed.
