One prescription: Treats *Shijue* (Corpse-like fainting, a condition characterized by sudden collapse resembling death). Remove the hairs from *Shichangpu* (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii) and grind it into powder. Use one "zi" (an ancient unit of weight) each time, blow it into both nostrils, and simultaneously place *Guimo* (Cinnamon bark powder) under the tongue.
Another prescription: Treats *Shijue*. Take one piece of *Fuzi* (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), decoct it in wine, and take it warm.
Another prescription: Take one or two qian (approx. 3-6 grams) of *Zaomei* (Stirrup soot/Charred wood from stove), mix with rice water (*Jiangshui*), and drink it. If the patient does not regain consciousness, have several people blow air into the ears using a tube. Take dust from the roof beams, size of a bean, place it in the nose, and blowing on it will cure the condition.
Renzhong (GV26, one acupoint, located below the philtrum; moxibustion of seven moxa cones is recommended, or acupuncture to the depth of the teeth is excellent.)
Danzhong (CV17, one acupoint, located in the depression between the two nipples; moxibustion of twenty moxa cones is recommended.)
Area between the two breasts Women are suitable for moxibustion in this area.
Another method: Wrap a string around the wrist. For men, use the left arm; for women, the right arm. Measure the string from above the Dazhui point (GV14) down to the middle of the spine. The end of the string marks the acupoint. (Moxibustion of twenty moxa cones leads to recovery.)
(Chizong refers to convulsions and spasms.)
The *Lingshu* states: In epilepsy with chizong, the patient is unaware of their suffering. The lower part of the two Qiao vessels is selected. For males, select Yang channels; for females, Yin channels.
The *Yuanbing Shi* states: Chizong means movement/tremor. Ti (startle/jump) and chizong are characteristics of Fire. It further states that chizong and ti represent movement. Fire governs movement; thus, in summer heat, the pulse becomes surging, large, and long, which is the manifestation of chizong.
Cheng Wuji states: Chi refers to the tension of sinews and vessels; Zong refers to the flaccidity of sinews and vessels. When tense, they pull and contract; when flaccid, they extend. When there is alternating contraction and extension without cessation, it is called chizong. This is commonly known as convulsions or spasms.
One theory suggests excessive Wind-Wood qi; another suggests deficient Wind-Wood qi; a third is Heat-Fire, where the arrival of Shaoyang qi causes chizong; a fourth is excessive Year Earth qi with widespread dampness, leading to frequent chizong.
Epilepsy, Wind-deficiency, and Tetanus (Po Shang Feng) can all cause chizong. However, in epilepsy and chizong, the patient falls to the ground and loses consciousness. In wind-induced chizong, opisthotonos (rigid arching of the back) occurs. In tetanus-induced chizong, there is an open wound. Therefore, these three diseases each have their own categories. Yet, there are cases of chizong without falling, without opisthotonos, and without wounds; thus, a separate category for chizong is established, attributed to Liver deficiency and Heart deficiency.
