There are twenty-one acupoints on the Foot-Taiyin Splein Meridian: Yinbai, Dadu, and Taibai follow one another. Gongsun, Shangqiu, and Sanyinjiao come next; Lougu, Dijji, and Yinlingquan (Yinlingquan) follow. Xuehai, Jimen, and Chongmen open up; Fushhe, Fujie, and Dahan are arranged in order. Fu'ai, Shidou, and Tianxi branch out; Xiongxiang, Zhourong, and Dabao follow.
At the medial side of the thumb lies Yinbai. Dadu begins in the depression behind the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Taibai is located in the depression below the base of the first metatarsal bone (the "nuclear bone"). Gongsun is reached one cun distal to the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Shangqiu belongs to the Jing-River point (Metal) of the meridian, situated in the slight depression anterior and inferior to the medial malleolus. Sanyinjiao is three cun above the tip of the medial malleolus; Lougu is one cun above, with a clear sequence. Dijji is five cun below the knee; Yinlingquan is at the medial margin of the medial condyle of the tibia. Xuehai is clearly located two cun from the medial border of the thigh, above the patella. Jimen is six cun above the fleshy part of the thigh (vastus medialis), where the arterial pulse between the tendons must be carefully palpated. Chongmen is five cun above the pubic symphysis, below Dahan; Fushhe is sought three cun and three fen inward. Fujie is one cun and three fen below Dahan; Dahan is beside the umbilicus, not falsely so. Fu'ai is one cun and half a cun away from Riyue, directly aligned and parallel to Shidou. Shidou, Tianxi, and Xiongxiang, as well as Zhourong, are each spaced one cun and six fen apart. Dabao is three cun below Yuanli, emerging from the space between the ninth ribs, which should be remembered.
The Shape of the Heart: The Heart is the official of the Sovereign, from whom spirit and consciousness emerge. The Heart is the root of life and the change of spirit. Its luster manifests in the face, and its nourishment fills the blood vessels. It is the Supreme Yang within Yang, communicating with the Qi of Summer. The red color of the South originates from the Heart, opens into the ears (Note: Text says ears, though traditionally tongue), stores essence in the Heart, thus diseases affect the five Zang organs. Its flavor is bitter, its element is Fire, its associated animal is the sheep, its grain is millet (Shu), it corresponds to the seasons, specifically appearing as the planet Yinghuo (Mars) in the sky; therefore, we know that disease resides in the vessels. Its musical note is Zhi, its number is seven, its odor is scorched, its flavor is bitter, its vocalization is speech, and its fluid is sweat.
Heat generates in the South; Heat generates Fire; Fire generates Bitterness; Bitterness generates the Heart; the Heart generates Blood; Blood generates the Spleen. The Heart governs the tongue. In Heaven it is Heat, in Earth it is Fire, in the body it is the vessels, in the Zang organs it is the Heart, in colors it is Red, in sounds it is laughter, in seasonal variation it is Summer, in orifices it is the tongue, in flavors it is Bitter, and in emotions it is Joy. Excessive Joy damages the Heart; Fear overcomes Joy. Excessive Bitterness injures Qi; Salty overcomes Bitter.
