论曰临产或难。盖为和气动乱，心气不宁所致也，古人有预备方法，临月服滑胎散。并
日行一二千步，贵使血气下顺，至产无留难之虑，欲产先须看产图，及催生汤药，无令喧杂
惊忙，又须产 温暖，或遇严寒之日，四围烧火，及备热汤， 诸异香，常令香火汤气及
身，惟谙事人看候，产妇才觉腹痛，速与食饮令饱，无或困乏。饥以雌鸡煮粥。渴以醋蜜煎
汤，闷以新汲冷水少饮，或空痛经日而胎未动者，宜安心耐忍，以荐席铺地。就上安产，免
为
此欲产之兆也，诸余法度，宜次序行之。
治难产不下经日。车前子散方
车前子（微炒半两） 榆白皮（刮净锉碎一两） 滑石（半两） 当归（切焙半两） 瞿
麦穗（
上五味，捣罗为散，每服二钱匕，用酒调下，温汤亦得，如血水未下，用大黄二钱。煎
汤一盏，分作三服。调前药下。
治产难、催生。如意膏方
蓖麻子（三七粒去壳研如膏） 丹砂（半钱研细）
上二味，一处和研匀，用油单一片，方圆如盏口大，将药摊之，当脐下少腹间贴之。外
以带帛系令固，候产罢，并胞衣下毕，速去之。稍缓即脱人气血，此药觉腹痛，便宜用之。
治难产经日未生。牛酥煎方
真牛酥（三两） 秋葵子（一合） 白蜜（二两） 滑石 瞿麦穗 大豆黄卷（各一两）
上六味，先以清酒一升，研细葵子纳酥蜜中，微火令稍后，即下诸药，慢火煎，常如鱼
眼沸，约强半如膏，即将瓷器中以绵滤之，用温酒调，初服半匙，渐加至一匙。
治难产，车前子煎方
车前子（一升以布裹于水中熟 漉出日曝干又以新布裹熟揉之令光滑不用捣） 生地黄
汁
上四味相和，微火煎，常令如鱼眼沸起，即泻于瓷器中，每半匙以沸汤调，通口服之。
治难产数日不下。蛇蜕皮丸方
蛇蜕皮（一条烧灰） 腊月兔脑髓（一枚） 车脂（枣许大曝干）
上三味，除兔髓外，捣罗为末，以兔髓搜和为丸，如梧桐子大，每服二十丸，温酒下。
治难产、滑胎。贝母散方
贝母（一两半去心秤） 槐子（十月上已日采之佳一两半）
上二味，捣罗为散，每服三钱匕，以熟水调服，未生更服。
治难产，产乳论云。三十后嫁者，谓之晚嫁也，少嫁则筋骨软弱易产，晚嫁则筋骨坚强
，所以难产，入月宜常服，苎麻根饮方

马齿苋 常苋（各曝干三两重午日采）
上二味，捣罗为散，每服二钱匕，新汲水调服，宜频服之。
治难产，烧弓弦散方
弓弦（五寸锉碎） 箭竿（五寸锉碎）
上二味，同烧作灰，研为细散，作一服，以温酒调下，其子即出，未效再烧服。
治数日不产，胎上冲心欲死。牛酥饮方
牛酥（半两） 冬葵子（净淘微炒一合） 滑石（三分）
上三味，以二味捣罗为末，和牛酥置生绢袋内盛之，用酒一升，煎至七合，去药袋子令
温，每服半盏，一二服如未下，更服之。
治难产，生地黄饮方
生地黄汁（一盏） 生姜汁（二分盏）
上二味，同煎至一盏，分四服，每以汤或酒和服，胎即生也。
治难产，催生。芍药散方

一二服。

泽泻（一两） 瞿麦（去根锉碎二两半） 榆白皮（刮净锉碎二两） 甘草（炙令赤一
两半）
上七味，粗捣筛，每服四钱匕，以水一盏半，入生姜三片，同煎至一盏，去滓温服。一
服未产，更服。
治难产腹痛，胎不转动。甘草汤方

上一味蛇皮，用水浸，于日下煎之，候干收此纸，有难产者，剪三小片子，如蛇形，新
汲水吞之，立产，或每片纸子内，拌牛粪中豆与吞，亦神效，产时男左女右手内把药出也。
又方
瞿麦（半两） 桂心（二钱半） 蟹爪（半合） 牛膝（酒浸半日切焙半两）
上四味，粗捣筛，每服五钱匕，水一盏半，煎至八分，去滓温服，如未产更服。

上二味，粗捣筛，每服五钱匕，以水一盏，煎至六分，去滓温服，如胎活则便安。如胎
毙即下，又一法，苦酒调下，亦验。

上一十二味， 咀如麻豆，每服五钱匕，水一盏半，煎至八分，去滓温服。
治妊娠难产方
水银（一分） 腻粉（一分） 兔脑（十二月者）
上三味研，以兔脑和为丸，如梧桐子大，不计时候，以温水下五丸。
治难产多时不下，垂困宜服此，七圣煎方
瞿麦 滑石（各一两） 牛乳 黑豆黄 酥（三味各二两） 冬葵子（一合） 白蜜（二

上四味，捣筛为细末，以乳酥蜜调药令匀，慢火熬成稀膏，每服一匙，热酒调下，

上一味，细研为散，取生藕汁一盏，调下立产，若产母虚弱者，恐藕汁冷动气，即于银
器内，重汤温过与服大妙。

上四味等分，捣罗为散。每服二钱匕。温酒调下，不拘时服。

丹砂 乳香
上二味，同研如粉，用倒流水和丸，如鸡头实大，慢火焙干，产妇腹痛时，用秤砣一枚
洗净，浓研丹砂，用笔于秤砣周回书金木水火土五字，以炭火烧令通赤取出，投于酒内，将
酒下药一丸立产。如是取死胎，用水银一皂子大，葱白一茎，研如泥。及当归末一钱匕，同
以热酒半盏，作一服，下药一丸，并酒饮尽，不饮酒用酒少许，和醋汤下。
治难产气欲绝。及横生者。黑神散方
铛墨（研一两） 白芷（为末二两）
上二味，研令极细，每服三钱匕，童子小便酒醋共一盏调下，未产再服。
催产，桂膏贴足方
桂（去粗皮为末） 雄黄末（一钱匕）
上二味，以蓖麻子三七枚，去皮烂研，入二味，同研如膏，纸上摊，于两足心贴之。才
产讫，急去药。
催产，圣散子方
黄蜀葵子（二七枚） 赤小豆（七枚生用）
上二味同研细，以童子小便三分调。顿服立下。
催产。蚕蜕散方
蚕蜕纸（一大张烧作灰研）
上一味，以酸浆草烂捣，绞取自然汁三分许，酒三分许。同微暖调下。
治难产，酸浆酒方
酸浆 （自然汁）
上一味，每服半盏，暖酒半盏调之，顿服立出。
治难产横生倒产，困顿不省人事，圣功散方
蜀葵子（陈者不拘多少）
上一味，捣罗为散，每服三钱匕，温酒调下，如口噤，斡开灌之。
治二三日不产。鸡子酒方
鸡子（一枚去清）
上一味，以苦酒半盏，投鸡子于酒中，饮之立产。
催不。马齿苋酒方
上以马齿苋，捣绞取自然汁三分，入酒二分，微暖服之。立产。
治难产腹痛不可忍，以致疲顿，胎不能下。催生丹方
上取十二月兔脑髓一枚，入乳香一分，母丁香一钱，麝香少许，研令细匀，丸如绿豆大
，温水下一丸，生男则左手握下，女则右手握下。
催产，石燕酒方
上取石燕子，以童子小便三分，磨取自然汁，微暖下赤小豆七粒，立产。
治难产方
上吞大豆三枚至七枚。立产。
治难产方
上吞槐子三枚，立产。
又方
上取梁上尘，灶突煤，各等分，以三指撮，温酒调服。
又方
上取舂杵头上糠为末，温水调服方寸匕。

于临月。带水马子一枚良。
治难产痛闷方
知母（焙干三两）
上一味，捣罗为末，炼蜜和丸，如樱桃大，每服一丸，温水嚼下，痛未止，再服。

大麻根（三本）
上一味，以水一升，煎取三合，顿服之立下。

以两手各把石燕一枚，立产。
又方
取兔皮并毛烧灰，酒和两钱匕服。

上取牛粪中大豆一粒分开，一片书父入字，一片书子出字。吞之。

上烧龟甲屑，服方寸匕。

上一味研细，以酒三合和方寸匕顿服。

令人含醋 面。闷即解。
论述说：分娩时如果遇到难产，大概是因为体内和气紊乱，心气不宁所导致的。古人有预先准备的方法，在预产月服用滑胎散。并且每天行走一二千步，贵在使气血下行顺畅，到生产时没有滞留困难的忧虑。想要生产，先必须查看产图，以及准备好催生的汤药，不要让环境喧闹杂乱、惊慌忙乱，又必须让产房温暖，如果遇到严寒的日子，四周烧火，并准备热汤和各种异香，经常让香火、汤气和香气笼罩身体，只让有经验的人看护，产妇刚觉得腹痛，迅速给予饮食让她吃饱，不要让她困乏饥饿。如果饿了就用雌鸡煮粥。如果渴了就用醋和蜜煎汤，如果胸闷就用新打的冷水少量饮用，或者空腹经过一天而胎儿未动的，应当安心忍耐，用草席铺在地上，在上面安坐待产，以免成为难产的征兆。其余各种方法，应当按次序施行。

蓖麻子（三七粒去壳研如膏） 丹砂（半钱研细）
以上两味药，放在一起混合研磨均匀，用油纸一片，大小如杯口，将药摊在上面，贴在脐下少腹部。外面用带子系紧固定，等到生产结束，胎盘完全排出后，迅速去掉药物。稍慢就会耗脱人气血，此药感觉到腹痛时，就适宜使用。
治疗难产多日未生。牛酥煎方
真牛酥（三两） 秋葵子（一合） 白蜜（二两） 滑石 瞿麦穗 大豆黄卷（各一两）
以上六味药，先用清酒一升，研磨细葵子纳入酥蜜中，用微火令其稍后，即加入诸药，用慢火煎，经常像鱼眼一样沸腾，大约剩下半量如膏状，即将瓷器中以绵过滤，用温酒调服，初服半匙，逐渐增加到一匙。

One should also walk one or two thousand steps daily to ensure that Blood and Qi flow smoothly downward, eliminating concerns of retention and difficulty at birth. Before labor, one must consult obstetric diagrams and prepare decoctions for promoting labor. The environment should not be noisy, chaotic, or panic-inducing. The delivery room must be kept warm; on extremely cold days, fires should be lit around, hot water prepared, and various aromatic substances used so that incense smoke, steam, and fragrance constantly envelop the body. Only experienced attendants should supervise. As soon as the parturient feels abdominal pain, she should be given food and drink to eat until full, avoiding exhaustion or hunger. If hungry, cook porridge with a female chicken. If thirsty, decoct vinegar and honey. If feeling stifled, drink a small amount of freshly drawn cold water. If fasting for a day and the fetus has not moved, one should remain calm and endure, laying mats on the ground to sit upon for delivery, avoiding signs of difficult labor. Other methods should be followed in order.
Treatment for difficult labor lasting several days without delivery. Cheqianzi San (Plantain Seed Powder) Formula
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, lightly stir-fried, half tael), Yubai pi (Ulmus rubra bark, scraped clean, chopped, one tael), Huashi (Talcum, half tael), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and roasted, half tael), Qumai sui (Polygoni Avicularis Herba spike, ...).
The above five herbs are crushed, sifted into powder. Each dose is two qianbi (approx. 2-3 grams), taken with wine; warm water is also acceptable. Zhen Niusu (True Beef Fat, three taels), Qiukui zi (Abutilonis Semen, one he), Baimi (White Honey, two taels), Huashi (Talcum), Qumai sui (Polygoni Avicularis Herba spike), Dayehuajuan (Sojae Semen Praeparatum, each one tael).
The above six herbs are first processed with one sheng (approx. 200ml) of clear wine. Grind Kui zi finely and mix into the beef fat and honey. Heat gently, then add the other herbs. Simmer over low heat until bubbling like fish eyes. Reduce to approximately half volume, resembling a paste. Filter through silk into a porcelain vessel. Take with warm wine. Initial dose: half chi (spoon); gradually increase to one chi.

Shetupi (Ophiopogonis Dermis, one strip, burned to ash), Layue Naomousui (Hare Brain Marrow from the twelfth lunar month, one unit), Chezhi (Cartilage from horse, size of a date, dried).
Except for the hare brain marrow, grind the other ingredients into powder. Mix with the hare brain marrow to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take twenty pills per dose with warm wine.
Treatment for difficult labor and slipperiness of fetus. Beimu San (Fritillaria Powder) Formula
Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, one and a half taels, heart removed, weighed), Huaizi (Sophorae Fructus, best harvested on Shangsi day in the tenth month, one and a half taels).
Grind the above two herbs into powder. Take three qianbi per dose with cooked water. Repeat if birth has not occurred.
Regarding difficult labor, the Treatise on Childbirth and Lactation states: Marriage after age thirty is called late marriage. Early marriage leads to weak sinews and bones, facilitating easy delivery; late marriage results in strong sinews and bones, causing difficult labor. During the ninth month, regularly take Zhuma Gen Yin (Ramie Root Drink) Formula.

Burn the above two ingredients together to ash. Grind into fine powder. Take as one dose with warm wine. The fetus will be expelled. If ineffective, burn and take again.

Crush the above eight herbs into powder. At bedtime, take two qianbi with warm wine. Take frequently. Delivery will be immediate.

Coarsely crush and sift the above seven herbs. Take four qianbi per dose with one and a half zhan of water and three slices of fresh ginger. Decoct to one zhan. Strain and take warm. If not delivered after one dose, take another.
Treatment for difficult labor with abdominal pain and fetal immobility. Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction) Formula
Gancao (Licorice Root, lightly roasted, half tael), Yubai pi (Ulmus rubra bark, scraped clean, chopped, one tael), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, one and a half taels), Kuizi (Abutilonis Semen, one he), Huashi (Talcum, three fen).
Grind and sift the above five herbs into coarse powder. Take four qianbi per dose with one medium zhan of water. Decoct to 60% volume. Strain and take warm.
Treatment for difficult labor and promoting delivery. Disheng San (Reach Sage Powder) Formula
Honglanhua (Carthami Flos, harvested June 6th), Shuhua (Malvae Flower, harvested May 5th), Taohua (Peach Blossom, harvested March 3rd), Lingxiaohua (Campsis Flower, harvested July 7th).
Harvest the above five flowers according to time. Grind into fine powder. Take three qianbi per dose with hot wine. Delivery will be immediate.
Another Formula
Shetupi (Snake Skin, one complete strip, collected on Dragon Boat Festival, placed in a clay pot wrapped in paper).
Soak the snake skin in water. Boil under the sun until dry. Collect this paper. For difficult labor, cut the paper into three small pieces shaped like snakes. Swallow with freshly drawn cold water. Delivery will be immediate. Alternatively, mix beans from cow dung into each paper piece and swallow. This is also miraculous. During delivery, males hold the medicine in the left hand, females in the right hand to expel it.
Another Formula
Qumai (Polygoni Avicularis Herba, half tael), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, two and a half qian), Xiezha (Crab Claws, half he), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, soaked in wine for half a day, sliced and roasted, half tael).
Coarsely crush and sift the above four herbs. Take five qianbi per dose with one and a half zhan of water. Decoct to 80% volume. Strain and take warm. If not delivered, take more.
Treatment for difficult labor, suspecting fetal death in the uterus, for testing. Danggui Tang (Angelica Decoction) Formula
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and roasted, two taels), Xiong (Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix, chopped, two taels).
Coarsely crush and sift the above two herbs. Take five qianbi per dose with one zhan of water. Decoct to 60% volume. Strain and take warm. If the fetus is alive, the mother will feel safe. If the fetus is dead, it will be expelled. Another method: take with vinegar. Also effective.
Treatment for difficult labor lasting several days without exit, or fetal death in the uterus, maternal Qi about to collapse. Guixin Tang (Cinnamon Heart Decoction) Formula
Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi, outer bark removed, one and a half taels), Qumai (Polygoni Avicularis Herba spikes), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, chopped), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, soaked in wine for half a day, sliced and roasted), Yubai pi (Ulmus rubra bark, scraped clean, chopped...).
Coarsely crush and sift the above five herbs. Take four qianbi per dose with one and a half zhan of water. Decoct to 80% volume. Strain and take warm. If not delivered, take more. Another formula: decoct only Qumai and take. Also effective.
Treatment for women with irregular Blood and Qi, abdominal pain, or amenorrhea, often experiencing difficult labor during pregnancy. Yisheng Tang (Easy Birth Decoction) Formula
Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, washed and peeled, twelve taels), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, six taels), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed, bran-roasted), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, roots and joints removed), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, roasted and cracked, ...), Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi, outer bark removed...), Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, roasted, each two taels).
Of the sixteen herbs, except for Gui and Zhiqiao which are made into coarse powder separately, the remaining fourteen herbs are made into coarse powder. Stir-fry slowly over low heat until color changes, then spread to cool. Mix in the Gui and Zhiqiao powder evenly. Take three qianbi per dose with one and a half zhan of water, one he of vinegar, and three slices of fresh ginger. Decoct to one medium zhan. Strain and take slightly warm. Any time.
Treatment for women with difficult labor and malposition (transverse or inverted). Shensheng San (Divine Holy Powder) Formula
Gan Zhu Tai (Dry Pig Placenta), Li Pi (Carp Skin), Nu Ren Luan Fa (Woman's Loose Hair, each one tael, burned to char in a bottle), Dangmo (Iron Ink from cauldron), Fulonggan (Dragon's House Liver, finely ground, each half tael), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Xiong (Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix...).
Grind the thirteen herbs into powder, then refine. Take three qianbi per dose with hot wine. When abdominal pain occurs during labor, both mother and child will be safe. After delivery, take one dose daily on an empty stomach to treat various blood disorders within the month.

Wangbuliuxing (Vaccariae Semen), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, roasted and chopped), Qianniu Zi (Pharbitidis Semen, stir-fried), Baihe (Lilii Bulbus), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and roasted), Weilingxian (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each one and a half taels), Leiwu (Holotrichiae Parapupae), Fu (Abdomen?, two taels, chopped).
Chop the above twelve herbs like hemp seeds. Take five qianbi per dose with one and a half zhan of water. Decoct to 80% volume. Strain and take warm.

Shuiyin (Mercurius, one fen), Nifen (Calomelas, one fen), Tunao (Hare Brain, from the twelfth month).

Treatment for difficult labor lasting long without delivery, approaching exhaustion. Seven Sages Decoction Formula.
Qumai (Polygoni Avicularis Herba), Huashi (Talcum, each one tael), Niuru (Cow Milk), Heidouhuang (Black Soybean Yellow), Sus (Butter, these three each two taels), Dongkuizi (Abutiloni Semen, one he), Baimi (White Honey, two he).
Grind the above four ingredients (likely referring to the solid herbs) into fine powder. Mix with milk, butter, and honey. Simmer over low heat into a thin paste. Take one chi per dose with hot wine.

Grind finely into powder. Take one zhan of fresh lotus root juice to administer. Delivery will be immediate. If the mother is weak, fearing the cold nature of lotus root disturbs Qi, warm it in a silver vessel using double-boiling method before administration. Highly effective.

Dansha (Cinnabaris), Ruxiang (Olibanum).
Grind together into powder. Mix with reverse-flowing water to form pills the size of Euryale seeds. Dry slowly over low fire. When the parturient feels abdominal pain, take a clean iron weight, grind Dansha thickly on it, write the characters Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth around the weight with a brush. Burn with charcoal until red-hot. Remove and throw into wine. Administer one pill with the wine. Delivery will be immediate. To extract a dead fetus, use mercury the size of a soap cake, one stem of green onion, grind into paste. Mix with one qianbi of Danggui powder. Take as one dose with half zhan of hot wine. Drink all the wine and medicine. If unable to drink wine, use a little wine mixed with vinegar water.
Treatment for difficult labor with Qi about to collapse. And transverse presentation. Heishen San (Black Divine Powder) Formula
Dangmo (Iron Ink from cauldron, ground, one tael), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, powdered, two taels).
Grind extremely fine. Take three qianbi per dose mixed with one zhan of boy's urine, wine, and vinegar. If not delivered, take again.

Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi, outer bark removed, powdered), Xionghuang Mo (Realgar Powder, one qianbi).
Take thirty-seven Ricini Semen, remove shells, grind into paste. Mix with the two powders. Grind into ointment. Spread on paper. Apply to the soles of both feet. Remove immediately after delivery.

Huang Shukui Zi (Yellow Malvae Semen, fourteen seeds), Chi Xiaodou (Adzuki Bean, seven seeds, raw).

Grind sour grass (Sour Plum Grass) into pulp, squeeze out natural juice (approx. three parts). Mix with wine (three parts). Warm slightly and take.

Suanjiang (Sour Plum Juice, natural).
Take half zhan, mix with half zhan of warm wine. Take in one dose. Immediate expulsion.
