Ms. Yi, aged 30. On the 27th day of the 10th month in the Jiazi year, the pulse was wiry and urgent (Xian Ji). There was distension in the hypochondrium radiating to the heart region with pain, so severe as to induce nausea/vomiting. Menstruation had suddenly started profusely just fifteen days prior, leaving her nearly bedridden. She had no desire to eat, and experienced a bearing-down sensation, distension, and pain in the lower abdomen. This is due to anger causing liver Qi stagnation and injury, with sudden flooding into the Blood Sea (Chong and Ren vessels), and Liver Qi rebellion invading the Stomach. It is proposed to treat both the Uterus (Bao Gong) and the Yangming channel simultaneously. As stated in *Jingui Yaolue*, if the Uterus affects Yangming, treatment focuses on the Uterus; if Yangming affects the Uterus, treatment focuses on Yangming. Here, because Liver disease has descended to affect the Uterus and horizontally penetrated the Earth element (Spleen/Stomach), both areas are injured and must be rescued. The primary focus remains on the Jueyin (Liver) channel. Although this varies from the method in *Jingui Yaolue*, it essentially follows its principles.
Prescription: Prepared Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu) 3 qian, Linderae Radix (Wuyao) 2 qian, Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) 5 qian, Artemisiae Folium Carbonis (Aitan) 3 qian, Curcumae Aromatae Rhizoma (Yujin) 2 qian, Scutellariae Radix Carbonis (Huangqin Tan) 1 qian, Foeniculi Fructus Carbonis (Xiaohui Tan) 2 qian, Hominis Crinis Carbonis (Xuyu Tan) 3 qan, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Qingpi) 8 fen, Trogopterori Faex (Wulingzhi) 1.5 qian.
Decoct five cups of water to two cups, divide into two doses. After two prescriptions, significant effect was observed.
On the 29th day: *Jingui Yaolue* states that if the Uterus affects Yangming, treat the Uterus; if Yangming affects the Uterus, treat Yangming. Here, Liver Qi rebellion has not only overcome Yangming but also affected the Uterus. Therefore, the primary focus must be Jueyin, while protecting both Yangming and the Uterus.
Prescription: Prepared Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu) 3 qian, Evodiae Fructus (Dan Wuzhu Yu) 2 qian, Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) 5 qian, Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma (Bixie) 2 qian, Toosendan Fructus (Chuanlianzi) 3 qian, Artemisiae Folium Carbonis (Aitan) 1.5 qian, Foeniculi Fructus (Xiaohuixiang) 3 qian (stir-fried black), Linderae Radix (Wuyao) 2 qian, Gardeniae Fructus Carbonis (Hei Zhizi) 3 qian, Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi) 3 qian, Eucommiae Cortex Carbonis (Duzhong Tan) 2 qian.
Decoct five cups of water to two cups, divide into two doses.
Ms. Yi, aged 21. On the 29th day of the 11th month, the pulse was bilateral wiry and fine (Shuang Xian Er Xi), indicating Liver Qi rebellion invading the Stomach. The key is to keep the mind open and cheerful to prevent long-term complications.
Prescription: Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) 6 qian, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Qingpi) 1.5 qian, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang) 3 large slices, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Guangpi) 1.5 qian, Evodiae Fructus (Dan Wuzhu Yu) 2 qian, Linderae Radix (Wuyao) 2 qian, Zanthoxyli Fructus (Chuanjiao) 2 qian (stir-fried black), Curcumae Aromatae Rhizoma (Yujin) 2 qian, Toosendan Cortex (Chuanlianzi Pi) 2 qian, Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum (Jiangxiang Mo) 3 qian.
Decoct five cups of water to two cups, divide into two doses. Total three prescriptions.
Ms. Wang, aged 26. Liver Qi rebellion invading the Stomach, with turbid Yin attacking upwards. Treatment cannot deviate from the method of unblocking Yang and draining turbidity, only adjusting for severity. The reason the previous three prescriptions were not very effective is that the disease was heavy and the medication light; now the dosage is increased.
On the 4th day of the 11th lunar month: Zanthoxyli Fructus Carbonis (Chuanjiao Tan) 5 qian, Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma (Liangjiang) 5 qian, Armeniacae Fructus (Xiao Zhishi) 3 qian, Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Chuanpu) 3 qian, Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) 5 qian, Linderae Radix (Wuyao) 3 qian, Evodiae Fructus (Dan Wuzhu Yu) 5 qian, Coptidis Rhizoma (Yunlian) 1 qian, Acronychiae Pedunculatae Radix (Liangerjian) 3 qian (round ones not used), Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum (Jiangxiang Mo) 3 qian.
Decoct eight bowls of Ganyang Water (Ganlan Shui) to three bowls, divide into six doses. Two prescriptions.
On the 6th day: Having used heavy, rigid agents to eliminate turbid Yin with some effect, the dosage should be reduced.
Prescription: Zanthoxyli Fructus Carbonis (Chuanjiao Tan) 3 qian, Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma (Liangjiang) 3 qian, Linderae Radix (Wuyao) 2 qian, Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) 3 qian, Armeniacae Fructus (Xiao Zhishi) 3 qian, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Qingpi) 2 qian, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Guangpi) 1.5 qian, Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Nongpu) 2 qian.
Decoct eight bowls of Ganyang Water to two cups, divide into two doses. Two prescriptions.
Patient surnamed Che. Pulse is deep, wiry, and tight (Chen Xian Er Jin). Vomiting without thirst, cold limbs and numbness. This is caused by turbid Yin attacking the Jueyin channel and overcoming Yangming. Urgent warming is required.
Prescription: Linderae Radix (Wuyao) 3 qian, Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) 5 qian, Evodiae Fructus (Dan Wuzhu Yu) 5 qian, Zanthoxyli Fructus Carbonis (Chuanjiao Tan) 3 qian, Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Chuanpu) 3 qian, Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang) 3 qian, Piperis Longi Fructus (Bibo) 2 qian, Armeniacae Fructus (Xiao Zhishi) 3 qian, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Qingpi) 2 qian.
First decoction yields two cups, second yields one cup, divide into three doses.
