Tanre Hou (Throat Disorder due to Phlegm-Heat) is not common in its initial stage. Symptoms include sticky phlegm, difficulty swallowing saliva, dry throat, and the need for tea or water to moisten the throat to expel the phlegm. It does not occur without external triggers; however, consuming food that is too hot or improper diet can damage the body, causing internal fire to flare up and clash, leading to unclear qi mechanism in the throat and resulting in throat pain. If there is excessive phlegm and saliva, it may also present with slight aversion to cold and high fever, potentially developing into single or bilateral E Kou (Goose Mouth, a type of oral mucosal lesion). The pathology belongs to the Lung and Stomach meridians. It is recommended to use Zhen Hou Mo (True Throat Powder) blown into the throat two to three times daily, and internally administer Xiaotan Jianghuo Tang (Phlegm-Reducing and Fire-Descending Decoction) for several doses. If constipation is present, first take Tongli San (Unblocking and Purging Powder) mixed with warm water, followed by Xiaotan Jianghuo Tang. If heat is severe, one dose of Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Universal Rescue Powder) can be used, or it can be applied flexibly according to symptoms.
