论曰肺气通于鼻，鼻上通于脑。脑髓下渗而为涕，故涕为肺之液，而其出从鼻，小儿肺
脏壅滞，内有积热，上攻于脑，津液内涸，故令鼻干无涕也。
治小儿脑热鼻干无涕，升麻丸方
升麻 防风（去叉） 栀子仁（各半两）
上三味，捣罗为末，青羊脑髓和丸，如麻子大。一二岁每服三丸，温熟水研化下，食后
午时临卧各一，量儿大小加减。
治小儿脑热鼻干燥，常闭目。黄芩汤方
黄芩（去黑心） 青葙子 大黄（锉炒各半两） 蜀漆 甘草（炙各一两）
上五味，粗捣筛，五六岁儿每服一钱匕。水一盏，煎至五分，去滓放温。食后日二服，
量大小加减。

治小儿脑热，鼻干无涕。大黄汤方
大黄（锉炒） 柴胡（去苗） 防风（去叉） 甘草（炙各一分）
上四味，粗捣筛，每服一钱匕，水七分，煎至三分，去滓放温。食后临卧各一服，量儿
大小加减。
治小儿脑热黄瘦。黄连汁方
黄连（半两）
上一味，粗捣为末，童子小便一盏，浸一宿。每日取清汁半合服之，量大小加减。
治小儿鼻干身热。韭根汁方
韭根
上一味，捣取汁澄清，两鼻孔各滴如黑豆许，勿多，多则有毒。
治小儿脑热鼻干，白矾涂方
白矾（生末） 黄米粉（各一两）
上二味，每用一钱匕。清水半合，调如泥，涂脑上，日三。
论述说：肺气的功能通达于鼻，鼻的上部连通于脑。脑中的精髓向下渗透形成鼻涕，所以鼻涕是肺的体液，其排出途径是从鼻子流出。小儿肺脏气机壅滞，体内有积热，热气上攻至脑部，导致津液在内枯竭，因此出现鼻子干燥、没有鼻涕的症状。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥无鼻涕的升麻丸方：
升麻、防风（去除叉枝）、栀子仁（各半两）。
以上三味药，捣碎并过筛成粉末，用青羊的脑髓调和制成丸剂，大小如麻子。一至两岁的儿童，每次服用三丸，用温热的熟水研磨化开送服，分别在饭后、午时和临睡前各服一次，根据儿童的年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥且经常闭眼的黄芩汤方：
黄芩（去除黑心部分）、青葙子、大黄（锉碎炒制，各半两）、蜀漆、甘草（炙制，各一两）。
以上五味药，粗捣后筛选，五至六岁的儿童，每次服用一钱匕的药量。用水一盏，煎煮至剩余五分水量，滤去药渣，待药液变温。饭后每日服用两次，根据儿童年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥无鼻涕的茯神汤方：
茯神（去除木质部分）、栝蒌根、麦门冬（去除心，各一两）、黄芪（锉碎，一两半）、生干地黄（洗净焙干，三两）、酸枣仁（炒制，半两）、羌活（去除芦头）、葛根（锉碎）、羚羊角（镑片，各一分）。
以上九味药，粗捣后筛选，每次服用一钱匕的药量。用水七分浸泡药物较长时间，煎煮至剩余四分水量，滤去药渣，待药液变温服用。每日三次，在饭后较长时间服用。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥无鼻涕的本汤方：
藁本（去除苗土锉碎，一分）、羚羊角（镑片）、防风（去除叉枝，各一两）、川芎、菊花（去除花萼）、细辛（去除苗叶）、白术、人参、柴胡（去除苗）、白蒺藜（微炒）、山栀子仁、白茯苓（去除黑皮，各半两）、甘草（炙制）、黄芩（去除黑心，各一分）。
以上十四味药，粗捣后筛选，每次服用一钱匕的药量。用水七分，加入青竹叶五片，共同煎煮至剩余四分水量，滤去药渣澄清，待药液变温细细啜饮，饭后服用，每日两次。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥无鼻涕的犀角散方：
犀角（镑片，半两）、升麻、恶实（微炒，各一两）、麦门冬（去除心焙干）、茯神（去除木质部分）、百合桑根白皮（炙制锉碎）、大黄（锉碎炒制）、柴胡（去除苗）、山栀子仁、枳壳（去除瓤麸炒，各半两）、甘草（炙制锉碎）、桔梗（炒制）、黄芩（去除黑心，各一分）。
以上十四味药，粗捣后筛选，每次服用一钱匕的药量。用水七分，煎煮至剩余四分水量，滤去药渣，待药液变温。饭后及临睡前服用。
治疗小儿脑热肺脏壅滞、鼻子干燥无鼻涕、喘息不能平卧的柴胡煎方：
柴胡（去除苗）、麻黄（去除根节，用水煮掠去浮沫）、甘草（炙制）、木通（锉碎）、紫菀（去除苗土）、五味子、大青、干百合（各一两半）、款冬花、蓝叶、人参、赤茯苓（去除黑皮，各三分）、大黄（锉碎炒制，半两）、酥（一斤）、蜜（炼熟去白沫，一斤）。
以上十五味药，除酥和蜜以外，其余细锉，用水七升，慢火煎煮至三升，滤去药渣，加入酥和蜜，共同熬制成煎剂。用瓷器盛装，五至六岁的儿童在饭后用温熟水调服一钱匕，每日三次。根据病情的轻重，酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥无鼻涕的大黄汤方：
大黄（锉碎炒制）、柴胡（去除苗）、防风（去除叉枝）、甘草（炙制，各一分）。
以上四味药，粗捣后筛选，每次服用一钱匕的药量，用水七分，煎煮至剩余三分水量，滤去药渣，待药液变温。饭后及临睡前各服一次，根据儿童年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿脑热、身体发黄消瘦的黄连汁方：
黄连（半两）。
以上一味药，粗捣成粉末，用童子小便一盏浸泡一夜。每天取澄清的药汁半合服用，根据儿童年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿鼻子干燥、身体发热的韭根汁方：
韭根。
以上一味药，捣碎取汁并澄清，在两鼻孔中各滴入如黑豆大小的量，不要过多，过多则有毒性。
治疗小儿脑热、鼻子干燥，使用白矾涂抹的外治方：
白矾（生研末）、黄米粉（各一两）。
以上两味药，每次取一钱匕的量。用清水半合调和成泥状，涂抹在头部（囟门处），每日三次。
It is discussed that the Lung Qi (Lung Qi) communicates with the nose, and the upper part of the nose connects to the brain. The essence of the brain marrow permeates downward to form nasal mucus; therefore, nasal mucus is the fluid of the Lung, and its discharge occurs through the nose. In children, if the Lung Zang (Zang organs) is obstructed and stagnant, with accumulated heat inside attacking upward to the brain, the body fluids dry up internally, resulting in a dry nose without nasal mucus.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose and no nasal mucus, Shengma Wan (Cimicifugae Rhizoma Pill) Formula:
Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove twigs), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, each 0.5 liang).
The above three herbs are crushed, sifted into powder, and mixed with the brain marrow of a young goat to form pills the size of hemp seeds. For children aged one to two years, administer three pills per dose, ground and dissolved in warm boiled water for oral administration. Take once after meals, once at noon, and once before bed, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose and frequent eye closure, Huangqin Tang (Scutellariae Decoction) Formula:
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Qingxiangzi (Pharbitidis Semen), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried, each 0.5 liang), Shuqi (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, each 1 liang).
The above five herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. For children aged five to six years, administer one qianbi (approx. 3-5g) per dose. Add one zhan (approx. 200ml) of water, decoct until half remains (approx. 100ml), filter the dregs, and let it cool to warm temperature. Administer twice daily after meals, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose and no nasal mucus, Fushen Tang (Poria with Hostwood Decoction) Formula:
Fushen (Poria cum Radice, remove wood), Gualugen (Trichosanthis Radix), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, remove heart, each 1 liang), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, cut, 1.5 liang), Shenggan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, washed and dried, 3 liang), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried, 0.5 liang), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, remove rhizome head), Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, cut), Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, shaved, each 1 fen).
The above nine herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Administer one qianbi per dose. Soak the herbs in seven parts water for a long time, decoct until four parts remain, filter the dregs, and take warm. Take three times daily, well after meals.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose and no nasal mucus, Ben Tang (Ligustici Wallichii Decoction) Formula:
Ben (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma, remove seedlings and soil, cut, 1 fen), Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, shaved), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove twigs, each 1 liang), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos, remove calyx), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, remove seedlings), Baijili (Tribuli Fructus, slightly stir-fried), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, Bai Fuling (Poria, remove black skin, each 0.5 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart, each 1 fen).
The above fourteen herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Administer one qianbi per dose. Add five leaves of Qingzhuye (Young Bamboo Leaf) to seven parts water, decoct together until four parts remain, filter the dregs, clarify, and take warm by sipping slowly. Take after meals, twice daily.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose and no nasal mucus, Xijiao San (Rhinoceri Cornu Powder) Formula:
Xijiao (Rhinoceri Cornu, shaved, 0.5 liang), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Eshi (Arctii Fructus, slightly stir-fried, each 1 liang), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, remove heart and dry), Fushen (Poria cum Radice, remove wood), Baihe Sanggen Bapi (Morus Cortex, honey-fried and cut), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, remove seedlings), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, remove pulp and bran-fried, each 0.5 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried and cut), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart, each 1 fen).
The above fourteen herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Administer one qianbi per dose. Add seven parts water, decoct until four parts remain, filter the dregs, and take warm. Take after meals and before bed.
For treating pediatric brain heat with Lung obstruction, dry nose, no nasal mucus, and wheezing inability, Chaihu Jian (Bupleuri Decoction) Formula:
Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, remove seedlings), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, remove root nodes, boil and skim foam), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, cut), Ziwan (Asternis Radix, remove seedlings and soil), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Daqing (Isatidis Folium), Gan Baihe (Dried Lilii Bulbus, each 1.5 liang), Kuandonghua (Farfarae Flos), Lanye (Isatidis Folium), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Chi Fuling (Poria, remove black skin, each 3 fen), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried, 0.5 liang), Su (Butyrum, 1 jin), Mi (Mel, refined and skimmed, 1 jin).
The above fifteen herbs, excluding Su and Mi, are finely cut. Add seven sheng (approx. 1400ml) of water, decoct slowly over low heat until three sheng remain. Filter the dregs, add Su and Mi, and continue boiling to form a thick syrup. Store in porcelain vessels. For children aged five to six years, mix one qianbi with warm boiled water after meals and take orally. Take three times daily. Adjust the dosage according to the severity of the illness and the child's size.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose and no nasal mucus, Dahuang Tang (Rhei Decoction) Formula:
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, remove seedlings), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove twigs), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, each 1 fen).
The above four herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Administer one qianbi per dose. Add seven parts water, decoct until three parts remain, filter the dregs, and take warm. Take once after meals and once before bed, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.
For treating pediatric brain heat with yellowish complexion and emaciation, Huanglian Zhi (Coptidis Juice) Formula:
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 0.5 liang).
The above single herb is coarsely crushed into powder. Soak in one zhan of Tongzi Xiaonian (Child's Urine) overnight. Each day, take half he (approx. 10ml) of the clear juice orally, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.
For treating pediatric dry nose and body heat, Jiugen Zhi (Allii Tuberosi Radix Juice) Formula:
Jiugen (Allii Tuberosi Radix).
The above single herb is crushed to extract the juice, which is then clarified. Instill a quantity equivalent to a black bean into each nostril. Do not use excessive amounts, as too much may be toxic.
For treating pediatric brain heat with a dry nose, apply Baifan (Alumen) externally:
Baifen (Alumen, raw and powdered), Huangmi Fen (Yellow Millet Flour, each 1 liang).
The above two ingredients: take one qianbi per application. Mix with half he of clear water to form a paste, and apply to the head (fontanelle area). Apply three times daily.
