Commentary states: Wind-heat and other toxic pathogens, remaining in the fu-organs (hollow organs) and manifesting in the muscles, give rise to sores and boils. When the disease subsides and the sores heal, residual toxins are not yet eradicated; therefore, although the scabs have fallen off, the keloids (scar tissue) remain. The treatment methods include both topical applications of moisturizing ointments and rely on the balance of Ying (Nutrient Qi) and Wei (Defensive Qi), warmth of the skin, and responsiveness of Qi. Externally, one must be cautious against wind and cold.
Formula for applying to facial keloids: Baijiangcan Ointment (Silkworm Ointment)
Bombyx Batryticatus (Stir-fried, half tael) Cyprinus Carpio Var. Albatus (Ten pieces) Kaolinite (Baishizhi) Typhonii Rhizoma Prepared (Paofuzi) Accipiter Gutteratus Excrement (One fen each) Pig Fat from the Twelfth Lunar Month (Two taels)
The above six ingredients. Except for the pig fat, crush and sieve into fine powder. Mix with pig fat until uniform. Store in a porcelain container. Apply as needed to the keloids, avoiding wind.
Formula for applying to facial keloids: Xinyi Ointment (Magnolia Flower Ointment)
Magnolia Flower (Xinyi, one tael) Accipiter Gutteratus White Excrement Radix Duhuo (Duruo) Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, de-radicle and leaves, half tael each) Typhonii Rhizoma Prepared (Fufuzi, three qian)
The above five ingredients. Except for the Accipiter Gutteratus white excrement, chop all ingredients finely. Soak in two cups of wine overnight. Add five taels of sheep marrow. Decoct in a silver or stone pot over gentle heat until properly reduced. Strain out the dregs. Grind the Accipiter Gutteratus white excrement into powder and mix into the ointment. Warm slightly over low fire. Store in a container. Apply to the scars three times daily, avoiding wind.
Formula for applying to facial keloids: Danggui Ointment (Angelica Sinensis Ointment)
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi) Gallus Gallus Domesticus Var. Nigricomus Excrement (Wuji Fen - collected after feeding the hen with three jin of pig fat for three days, one liang each) Accipiter Gutteratus White Excrement (Half tael, ground fine together with chicken excrement)
The above four ingredients. First, chop Danggui and Baizhi finely. Soak in wine overnight. Melt one jin of pig fat separately. After melting, add the soaked herbs and wine. Decoct over gentle heat until Baizhi turns yellow. Strain out the dregs. Add the chicken excrement and Accipiter Gutteratus white excrement to the ointment, mix well, and pour into a porcelain container. Apply to the keloids three times daily, avoiding wind.
Formula for applying to facial keloids: Lazhi Ointment (Winter Fat Ointment)
Pig Fat from the Twelfth Lunar Month (Four sheng) Rat (One piece)
Put the above two ingredients into a pan. Decoct over gentle heat until the rat is completely melted. Filter through new cotton to remove dregs. Store in a porcelain container. Before use, wipe the scar area with a cloth until it becomes red, then apply the ointment. It will heal after three to five applications. Avoid wind.
