Discussion states that "Gou Yan" (Dog Throat) refers to a sudden sensation of blockage and obstruction in the throat, resembling symptoms of Hou Bi (Sore Throat). The Qi of Yin and Yang originates from the Lung (Fei) and circulates up and down along the throat. If Wind-Heat toxic factors invade and lodge in the throat, causing Qi stagnation and accumulation leading to heat generation, symptoms of blockage occur. Folklore suggests this disease is caused by accidentally swallowing dog hair; treatment methods also include rituals such as sharing rice with a dog to pray for recovery.

Standard translation for Eshi is usually Mugwort leaf, but in throat contexts often confused or specific local herb. Given "Eshi" usually refers to Arctii Fructus in some ancient texts or distinct herb. Let's stick to literal: Eshi (likely referring to Niu Bang Zi/Arctii Fructus in this specific context of wind-heat throat issues, or literally Mugwort. However, standard WHO term for Eshi is Artemisiae Argyi Folium. But historically "E Shi" can be Arctii. Let's use Arctii Fructus if it fits clinical picture, but strictly "Eshi" is Mugwort. Wait, looking at "Sheng Yong" (raw use) and dosage, and combination with Fuzi. Actually, in Song dynasty texts, Eshi often refers to Niu Bang Zi (Arctii Fructus). I will translate as Arctii Fructus (Niu Bang Zi) noting the ambiguity, or strictly Mugwort. Given the context of "Wind Heat", Arctii is more likely. I will use Arctii Fructus (Niu Bang Zi)). *Correction*: In many ancient texts, E Shi (恶实) is indeed Arctii Fructus (Niu Bang Zi). I will use Arctii Fructus.
