If there is disorder, headache due to wind causes redness of the face and eyes; needle depth 5 fen, moxibustion 3 zhuang.
Chongyang (ST42) consists of two points, located on the dorsum of the foot, 3 cun distal to Xiangu (ST43), where the Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian passes through, serving as the Yuan-Source point. It treats hemiplegia with deviation of the mouth and eye, swelling of the elbow, dental caries pain, chills and fever, abdominal hardness and distension with loss of appetite, tremors and coldness, long-term mania such as climbing high and singing, discarding clothes and running, foot weakness unable to hold shoes; needle depth 5 fen, moxibustion 3 zhuang.
Xiangu (ST43) consists of two points, belonging to Wood, located between the first and second toes, in the depression distal to the proximal interphalangeal joint, 2 cun distal to Neiting (ST44), where the Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian qi pours into, serving as the Shu-Stream point. It treats edema of the face and eyes, water diseases with frequent belching, borborygmus and abdominal pain, heat disease with no sweating, tremors and coldness, malaria; needle depth 3 fen, retain for seven breaths, moxibustion 3 zhuang.
Neiting (ST44) consists of two points, belonging to Water, located in the depression lateral to the space between the first and second toes, where the Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian qi flows, serving as the Ying-Spring point. It treats cold limbs, abdominal distension with frequent yawning, aversion to human voice, tremors and coldness with throat pain radiating inward, oral and dental caries pain, malaria with loss of appetite; moxibustion 3 zhuang, needle depth 3 fen.
Lidui (ST45) consists of two points, belonging to Metal, located at the tip of the first and second toes, distance from the nail like a leek leaf width, where the Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian qi emerges, serving as the Jing-Well point. It treats corpse-jue with clenched jaw and absent breathing, resembling evil possession, epigastric and abdominal fullness, heat disease with no sweating, chills and fever malaria with loss of appetite and edema, cold feet, bi syndrome of the throat and dental caries, aversion to wind with nasal obstruction, frequent fright and desire to lie down; needle depth 1 fen, moxibustion 1 zhuang.
For this Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian, both blood and qi are abundant; needling should release blood and qi. The meridian runs from head to foot: needling along the direction is Su (following), against the direction is Ying (opposing). For excess, use draining method; for deficiency, use tonifying method; for heat, needle quickly; for cold, retain needle; for sinking, use moxibustion; for neither excess nor deficiency, treat by taking from the meridian itself. This is the method for treating the Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian.
The Foot-Taiyin Spleen meridian originates at the tip of the big toe, follows the medial white flesh margin of the toe, passes behind the nuclear bone, ascends anterior to the medial malleolus, goes up the medial aspect of the leg, crosses anterior to the Jueyin meridian, ascends along the anterior medial aspect of the knee and thigh, enters the abdomen, connects with the Spleen and links with the Stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, flanks the pharynx, connects with the root of the tongue, and scatters under the tongue. Its branch separates from the Stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and pours into the Heart. When the meridian is disturbed, it causes stiffness of the tongue root, vomiting after eating, epigastric pain and abdominal distension, frequent belching, relief after defecation or passing gas, heaviness of the body. Diseases generated by the Spleen include: pain at the root of the tongue, inability to move the body, difficulty eating, vexation, urgent pain in the epigastrium, loose stools with undigested food or dysentery, urinary retention, jaundice with inability to lie flat, rigidity, yawning, swelling and coldness of the inner thigh and knee, non-function of the big toe. In these conditions, if excess, the Qi Kou pulse is three times larger than the Ren Ying pulse; if deficiency, the Qi Kou pulse is smaller than the Ren Ying pulse.
The Luo-Connecting vessel of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen is named Gongsun (SP4), located 1 cun posterior to the base of the big toe, diverging to the Yangming meridian. Its branch enters and connects with the Intestines and Stomach. Rebellious Qi ascending causes Huoluan (cholera-like disorder); excess leads to cutting pain in the intestines; deficiency leads to鼓胀 (drum-like distension). Treat by selecting this Luo point.
The Sinew meridian of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen originates at the medial tip of the big toe, ascends and binds to the medial malleolus. The straight part ascends and binds to the medial condyle of the tibia, ascends along the medial thigh, binds to the hip, gathers at the genitalia, ascends to the abdomen and binds at the umbilicus, follows the interior of the abdomen, binds at the hypochondrium, scatters in the chest. The internal part attaches to the spine. Pathology includes: pain supporting the medial malleolus of the big toe, tendon cramping pain, pain at the medial tibial condyle, pain radiating from the medial thigh to the hip, twisting pain of the genitalia, upward radiation to the umbilicus and bilateral hypochondrium, radiation to the middle of the chest and inner spine. Treatment involves burning needle Ji Ci (severe stabbing), using the number of treatments until effect is known, using pain as the acupoint, named Mengqiu Bi.
Evil invading the collateral of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen causes lower back pain radiating to the lower abdomen and controlling the testicles, inability to breathe while lying supine. Needle Yaoshu (BL23) at the gap of the sacrum and upper gluteal region. Determine the number of needles based on the waxing and waning of the moon. Needling brings immediate relief. Left side treated by needling right, right side by left.
Spleen disease manifests as heavy body, prone to muscle atrophy, foot weakness and inability to walk, frequent convulsions and pain in the soles. Deficiency presents as abdominal fullness, borborygmus, stool with undigested food. Select the Spleen meridian, and the Blood points of Taiyin, Yangming, and Shaoyin.
Spleen Heat Disease begins with heavy head and cheek pain, vexation, greenish complexion, desire to vomit, and fever. When heat struggles, it causes lower back pain with inability to flex or extend, abdominal fullness, and pain in both mandibles. Symptoms worsen on Jia/Yi days, profuse sweating occurs on Wu/Ji days. If Qi rebels, death occurs on Jia/Yi days. Needle the Foot-Taiyin and Yangming meridians. The Great Luo of the Spleen is named Dabao (SP21), emerging 3 cun below Yuanshi (LI15? Note: Text says Yuanxia, likely referring to axillary region context or specific location relative to armpit), distributing across the chest and hypochondrium. Excess causes whole-body pain; deficiency causes relaxation of all joints. All vessels resembling a net in these collaterals should be treated.

For this Foot-Taiyin Spleen meridian, it usually has abundant Qi and scarce Blood. Needling should release Qi and avoid stasis. The meridian runs from foot to abdomen: needling from bottom to top is Su (following), from top to bottom is Ying (opposing). Disease in Wei (Defensive) level takes Qi; disease in Ying (Nutritive) level takes Blood. Disease in sinews uses Ji Ci (burning needle stabbing). Disease in floating collaterals uses Miu Ci (lateral needling). The Yin of Taiyin is named Guanzhe. Observe floating collaterals in the area; these are Taiyin collaterals. If collaterals are full, evil enters the meridian. Entering collaterals causes fullness and color change. Entering meridians causes sinking due to deficiency. Remaining between sinews and bones: Cold excess causes sinew contraction and bone pain; Heat excess causes sinew relaxation and bone consumption, muscle wasting and skin rupture, hair standing straight and decaying. For diseases of the twelve meridians: Excess drains, deficiency tonifies, heat needles quickly, cold retains needle, sinking uses moxibustion, neither excess nor deficiency takes from the meridian. This is the method for treating the Foot-Taiyin Spleen meridian.
