Formulas for treating bromhidrosis (axillary odor), where the axillae, soles of the feet, palms, genital area, and inner thighs are constantly moist with sweat and have a foul odor.
Dried Lycii Radicis Cortex (Gouqigen), dried Rosae Multiflorae Caulis (Qiangweigen), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (each half liang); Phytolaccae Radix (Shanglugen), Cerussa (Hufen), and Talcum (Huashi) (each one liang).
The above medicines are crushed and sifted. Mix with a small amount of vinegar (Ku Jiu) and apply topically. It should induce slight sweating; change clothes and reapply. It will heal in no more than three applications. If it recurs after a year, apply again upon recurrence.
Another formula: Hydrargyrum (Shuiyin) and Cerussa (Hufen) (referred to as Fen Shuang in *Waitai Miyao*).
Grind the above two ingredients together with animal fat or vegetable oil paste (Mian Zhi) and apply topically. This is highly effective.
Another formula: Calcined Alum (Duanshi) (three sheng) and Silver Shavings (Yinxie) (one sheng, alternatively Copper Shavings Tongxie).
Mix the above two ingredients evenly, place them in a silk bag, and dust the powder on the skin when sweating. This is optimal.
Another formula: Burn Yellow Alumshi (Huangfanshi) until the juices run out, grind into powder, place in a silk bag, and dust the powder. The condition will resolve.
Another formula: On the first day of the first lunar month, wash the axillae with urine. This is miraculous.
(Thirteen formulas in total, three moxibustion methods)
The anus corresponds to the Lung. Lung heat manifests in the anus; excessive heat causes obstruction and constipation, swelling, retraction, and ulceration. Treatment:
Three sheng of White Honey (Baimi), boiled until dry. Mix with cold water to form pills, six to seven cun long. Insert into the anus, inverted upwards with the head downwards. Wait briefly for it to melt; soon after, the bowels will open and discharge freely.
The anus corresponds to the Large Intestine. Large Intestine cold manifests in the anus; excessive cold causes profuse diarrhea (Dongxie) and prolapse of the anus. Treatment:
One jin of Pig Liver (Zhugan), roasted until dry; Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao), and Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) (each two liang); Artemisiae Argyi Folium (Aiye) (one liang); and Pruni Mume Semen (Wumei Rou) (five liang).
Crush and sift the above six ingredients. Take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) with one sheng of warm clear wine. Take twice within half a day. If wine cannot be taken, clear rice water may be used instead.
Another formula: Magnetitum (Cishi) (four liang); Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin) (one chi); and [Peel] (Pi) (one piece).
*Note: The text says "Pi" (Peel), likely referring to Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi/Ju Pi) based on context, but strictly translated as Peel.*
Crush and sift the above three ingredients. Take one fangcun bi with warm water, once daily. The prolapse will retract. Avoid strenuous activity and tight clothing. Abstain from sexual intercourse for a year for best results. (*Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang* states: To treat uterine prolapse in women, use one turtle head as the fourth ingredient).
