Take one jin (approx. 500g) of Zhuru (Stalactite), regardless of its density, selecting only those that are white, clean, and lustrous. First, construct a stove using mud to hold an iron cauldron capable of containing four or five dou (approx. 40-50 liters). Fill the cauldron with water, leaving the water level three cun below the rim. Place the Zhuru into a container made of gold, silver, porcelain, or pottery, then submerge this container into the cauldron so that the water covers the top of the container by more than one cun, ensuring no water spills out. Heat gently with a mild fire, day and night without interruption. When the water is about to evaporate, add warm water to replenish it. Every "zhou shi" (a specific time period/cycle), replace the water, wash the cauldron, and rinse the Zhuru. After seven days and nights, remove the Zhuru, rinse it thoroughly until clean, and dry it. Place it in a porcelain mortar, add a small amount of water, and grind it for one day and night. Continuously add water and stir to make the mixture very turbid. Allow it to settle, then collect the turbid liquid; the coarser particles will naturally settle at the bottom. For making powder, prepare turbid water yourself, let it settle overnight, collect the coarse sediment at the bottom, and grind it according to the previous method. This process continues for five days and five nights, meticulously washing with water each time to produce the powder. Preferably, use the settling and refining method, take it out, sun-dry it, and then grind it again in a silver mortar for two days. It is considered excellent if the powder does not wash off when rinsed with meat broth.
This formula treats deficiency, emaciation, and insufficiency, specifically for individuals over sixty years old who are thin, weak, and unable to eat, addressing various ailments.
Ingredients: Shandang Renshen (Ginseng from Shangdang), Shihu (Dendrobium Stem), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger) (each 3 fen); Zhuru Fen (Powdered Stalactite) (refined, 3 liang).
The above four ingredients: Crush and sieve the first three ingredients, mix them evenly with the Zhuru powder, and divide equally into nine doses (tie). Take one dose on an empty stomach in the morning with warm pure wine, one dose in the afternoon after meals, and one dose after dusk. After three days, continue following this regimen. The general rule for taking this medicine is to consume one dose every three days. During these three days, consume only one and a half sheng (approx. 1.5 liters) of rice and one jin (approx. 500g) of meat. The meat and rice must be cooked until soft; do not consume scallions (Cong) or fermented soybeans (Chi). Question: Why should one eat less and not get full during these three days? Answer: During these three nights, the Zhuru steams and tonifies the Zang-Fu organs internally. If one eats too much, it will push the medicine out of the abdomen, hence one should not eat until full. Why should one not eat raw food? Because eating raw food damages the efficacy of the medicine; once the medicinal power is compromised, the body's nourishment (fat/nutrients) is also injured, hence raw food is prohibited. Why can one not eat scallions and fermented soybeans? Because they neutralize the drug's effect ("sha yao"), hence they are prohibited. After finishing the three-day medication course, one must prepare soup-based foods for supplementation within the next three days, choosing whatever is convenient, but still avoiding scallions, fermented soybeans, and hard-to-digest foods. After the three-day supplementation is complete, resume taking the medicine according to the previous format until this one jin of Zhuru is exhausted. One will naturally know the improvement in strength and energy, which cannot be fully described. Once this method is mastered, subsequent consumption of ten jin of Zhuru can be managed similarly as desired.
