The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian (Zu Shao Yin Shen Jing) is the convergence point of numerous meridians, and its Qi communicates with the ear. If this meridian is deficient, Wind Pathogen (Feng Xie) may invade it. When Wind enters the meridians of the ear, it causes obstruction and stagnation of meridian Qi, resulting in Wind Deafness (Feng Long). As Wind travels along the Qi pathways to the head and brain, it causes deafness accompanied by intermittent headache; hence, it is termed Wind Deafness. (From Volume 29)
Cui Shi’s Formula for Treating Ear Wind Deafness with Stiff Jaw and Inability to Open the Mouth.
Take eight-cornered Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 2 pieces), soak them in strong vinegar for two nights until thoroughly moistened. Trim one end and insert into the ear. Apply moxibustion (Jiu Fa) fourteen moxa cones on top, allowing the heat to penetrate the ear, which will lead to recovery. (From Volume 4)
Gujin Lu Yan’s Formula for Treating Chronic Wind Deafness with Tinnitus Using Carp Brain Ointment.
Fresh male carp brain (8 fen), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 6 zhu), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 6 zhu), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 6 zhu), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 6 zhu), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 6 zhu).
Chop the above six ingredients, combine with carp brain, and decoct. Boil three times, adding ingredients at each stage. When the ointment emits a fragrant aroma, it is ready. Filter out the dregs, cool, and insert an amount the size of a jujube pit into the ear, blocking it with cotton wool until cured.
Another Formula:

If no new preparation is available, remove the worms and reuse the old one, which remains effective. (Same as Qianjin Fang)
