Heat pathogen knots within the throat, swelling surrounds externally on the throat, accompanied by itching and numbness; this is *Chanhou Feng* (Throat-Entangling Wind). Treatment details are in the Decoction Section.
Ma Yuanyi stated: Regarding all cases of Throat Wind (*Houfeng*), those with phlegm are slightly milder, while those without phlegm are severe; this must be known. If one is in a desolate area with no shops or people, and medicines are not prepared, upon encountering a throat disorder, one may prick the Shaoshang acupoint (LU11) at both index fingers; even without medicine, recovery will occur.
If phlegm from inside the throat fills the mouth and tongue, covering the tongue, and teeth grinding produces sounds like snoring, this occurs when *Houbi* (Throat Bi/Sore Throat) is mistakenly treated with cold-natured medicines. If treatment is further delayed, phlegm blocks the nostrils, preventing breath from entering or exiting, leading to death. Urgently take goose down dipped in tung oil to roll out the phlegm; once the phlegm is expelled, it can also be cured with Guijiang Tang (Cinnamon and Ginger Decoction).
Two or three days before onset, the patient feels shortness of breath and rapid breathing, with cold extremities, suddenly experiencing phlegm obstruction and qi closure, with life hanging in the balance for an instant; this is *Houbi* (Throat Closure). Urgently administer herbs such as Su Zi (Perilla Seed) and Qian Hu (Peucedani Radix). If in a desolate area with no shops or people, and medicines are not prepared, upon encountering throat closure, urgently take a needle and prick the Shaoshang acupoint (LU11) at both index fingers; even without medicine, recovery will occur.
Ma Yuanyi stated: *Houbi* refers to the blockage of the throat and pharynx, where water and food cannot enter, with or without phlegm. If there is phlegm, one must induce vomiting using tung oil, then hold Sanjin Wan (Three Gold Pill) 3–5 qian in decoction in the mouth, and apply internal blowing of secret medicine. If there is no phlegm, also hold Sanjin Wan in the mouth and apply secret medicine via blowing.
For any case suffering from *Yagan* (Gum Erosion), with redness and swelling of the gum roots, and disorders of the mouth and throat: apply with a purple-hair throat gun, then blow Zhenzhu San (Pearl Powder) onto the affected area.
Ma Yuanyi stated: Blowing Zhenzhu San to treat *Yagan* is extremely effective.

Shaoshang acupoint (LU11): Located at the medial end of the thumb, approximately the width of a leek leaf from the corner of the nail, same on both sides.
This condition easily spreads, causing swelling that penetrates the cheek, which is unbearable and dangerous. Urgently blow Chishuang San (Red Frost Powder) onto the affected area; efficacy is swift as if divine. For long-standing ulcerated holes, flesh regeneration is also rapid. Alternatively, use Matui San (Hoof Powder); blowing it onto the affected area leads to immediate recovery.
Ma Yuanyi stated: Chishuang San is safe and effective for treatment.
This syndrome often results from *Gucaofeng* (Bone Trench Wind). Penetrating bone and piercing the cheek is also dangerous. Use Nanxing San (Arisaema Powder) to dust the affected area; recovery occurs in a few days.
