Callosity of the lip (Jianchun) initially appears like a bean. It gradually enlarges to the size of a silkworm cocoon, or takes shapes resembling safflower or lingzhi mushroom. The area becomes swollen, hard, and painful. Upon ulceration, it bleeds and discharges fluid. If prolonged, it may transform into symptoms of Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting syndrome) or Xiao Zhong (Middle Jiao Wasting). This is caused by accumulated heat in the Stomach, where Fire pathogen and Phlegm stagnate. In the early stage or when formed but without internal syndromes, apply moxibustion using an acupoint-sized moxa cone for three doses, apply Chan Su Bing (Toad Venom Cake), and cover with a plaster. Over time, it will gradually subside. If internal syndromes manifest with thirst, take Jiadi Dihuang Wan (Modified Rehmannia Pill) in the morning and Qingliang Ganlu Yin (Cooling Sweet Dew Decoction) at noon to nourish the source of transformation. If bleeding persists for a long time, accompanied by emaciation, deficiency-heat, dark complexion with red malar eminences, and extreme dry mouth and thirst, it is incurable.

Chunfeng (Lip Wind) occurs on the lower lip. It itches but does not hurt. The lip swells, cracks, and weeps fluid. This is due to Stomach Fire attacking upward. Externally, apply one qian of Kangong Dings (Kangong Stick) mixed with five fen of Tongqing Mo (Copper Green Powder), blended with water and applied.

Meridians; Kou Chuang (Mouth Ulcers): The Spleen's qi connects to the mouth. When the Spleen is harmonious, the mouth can perceive flavors. The Heart meridian spreads over the tongue, and the Spleen meridian spreads under the tongue. Therefore, when Heat accumulates in the Heart and Spleen, ulcers form in the mouth and tongue. In severe cases, the cheeks and tongue become red and swollen. This is Excess Fire. Treat with bitter-cold herbs, such as Liangge San (Cooling the Diaphragm Powder). Additionally, if Heat transfers from the Bladder to the Small Intestine, causing intestinal obstruction and difficulty in defecation, the heat rises to cause Kou Mi (Mouth Miasma/Ulcers). This resembles burning firewood under a stove or meat rotting in a cage. Use Chaihu Digupi Tang (Bupleurum and Groundsel Root Decoction). Alternatively, combine Wuling San (Five-Ling Powder) and Daochi San (Guide Out Redness Powder). If cold-cooling medicines are ineffective, it indicates Deficiency Fire. Treat with sweet-warm methods. For those with fever and desire for cold drinks, it is Upper Jiao Deficiency Heat; use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction). For those with cold limbs, abdominal pain, loose stools, and poor appetite, it is Middle Jiao Deficiency Cold; use Fuzi Lizhong Tang (Aconite Regulate the Middle Decoction) or Bawei Dihuang Wan (Eight-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill). For afternoon fever, internal heat, expectoration of phlegm, frequent urination, dry mouth, and thirst, it is Lower Jiao Deficiency Fire; use Jiadi Dihuang Wan (Modified Rehmannia Pill). This is a method of treating according to the nature of the disease. For children, observe facial areas corresponding to organ maps, differentiate between excess and deficiency of Zang-Fu organs, and medicate accordingly.
