Chuan Ju (Stringing Carbuncle) arises between the back and hypochondrium. Lesions erupt sequentially and link together, maintaining a consistent color. The swelling is diffuse and gradually turns red with significant pain; its etiology lies in accumulated resentment and internal fire.
[Note] This condition occurs between the back and hypochondrium. Initially, it appears in one location, subsequently spreading to two or three other sites successively. Although the morphology varies, the color remains uniform. After ulceration, the lesions often communicate with each other, hence it is also known as "Rat Burrowing" or "Wandering Blood Spleen Abscess." In the early stage, there is diffuse swelling without a head, and the skin color is normal. Gradually, the swelling increases and reveals a red hue. The pain is severe and radiates to adjacent areas. It results from accumulated resentment and internal fire. Initially, Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin (Immortal Life Elixir Decoction) is administered to disperse and resolve the toxic stagnation. Subsequent internal and external treatment methods follow the protocols for Swollen Ulcers and Ulcerated Ulcers sections.
Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin (See Swollen Ulcers Section)
Jiu Du Fa (Alcohol-Toxin Eruption) manifests across the entire back. The skin color remains unchanged, and the masses are firm, numb, and painful to the core, resembling size of beans or fists. This is caused by excessive consumption of medicinal wines and rich flavors.
[Note] This condition arises on the spine. The skin color does not change. The nodules are numerous, resembling beans or fists, hard as stone, alternating between numbness and anesthesia, with pain penetrating the five zang organs. Bowel movements and urination are obstructed. The body feels stiff and restricted. Several days later, puffiness appears on the head, face, hands, and feet, accompanied by diarrhea resembling dysentery. This is entirely due to overindulgence in medicinal wine combined with the accumulation of toxins from rich foods. At the onset, Lian Qiao Xiao Du Yin (Forsythia Detoxification Decoction) should be taken, followed by Nei Shu Huang Lian Tang (Internal Purging Coptis Decoction). The condition may either resolve or suppurate; prompt treatment is favorable. If delayed for a long time without resolving or suppurating, it will inevitably lead to the rotting of muscles and bones, becoming an adverse prognosis. Other internal and external treatments follow the protocols for Swollen Ulcers and Ulcerated Ulcers sections.
