[Note] "Wu Mei" refers to waking and sleeping; "Bu Nu Bu Jing" means not self-angry and not self-frightened; "Sou" refers to urine; "Bian" refers to stool; "Bu Wu Re" means no fever in the afternoon.
First Evil (E): Mental confusion, heart vexation with dry tongue, the sore color is mostly purple-black, muttering incoherently.
Second Evil: Stiffness of body sinews, difficulty in fixing the gaze, the sore head bleeds fluid, palpitations indicate Liver injury.
Third Evil: Emaciation of form, the sore shape is depressed and hard, pus is thin and foul-smelling, inability to eat indicates Spleen failure.

Fifth Evil: Frequent desire to drink, throat feels like burning smoke, Kidney loss presents with grim black complexion, retraction of the scrotum is the origin of death.
Sixth Evil: Generalized edema, borborygmus with frequent vomiting, large intestine shows frequent slippery diarrhea, this is the beginning of Zang-Fu organ failure.

[Note] "Ni Nan" means incoherent speech; "Jing Ji" means heart palpitations/fright; "Xiao Shou" means muscle emaciation; "Pi Fu Gao" means dry and rough skin; "Yun Bu Yuan" means voice is not resonant; "Bi Shan Dong" means nostril flaring; "Yan Hou Ruo Liao Yan" means dry, hot, choking pain in the throat; "Rong Can" means unhappy expression; "Nang Suo" means contraction of external genitalia; "Ou [Qi]" means vomiting accompanied by rebellious Qi; "Ru Bo Shan" means the sore surface lacks skin, resembling a skinned eel.
Smooth Progression (Shun Zheng): Initially, the lesion grows gradually from small to large, aversion to cold and severe fever appear gradually with pain. Abundant Qi causes the apex to swell high; abundant Blood causes the base to be constricted and red. Yang syndromes mature pus and ulcerate around the 14th day (two sevens); Yin syndromes begin to form pus only after 21 days. After ulceration, if the pus has a mild smell but no foul odor, necrotic tissue sheds easily and new flesh regenerates, while appetite increases. Although the sore may be large, it ultimately causes no harm; success is achieved regardless of age, strength, or weakness.
[Note] At the onset of carbuncles and sores, they grow from small to large, gradually presenting with aversion to cold, severe fever, and progressive redness/pain. "Abundant Qi" means the apex swells high; "Abundant Blood" means the base is constricted and red; this is Smooth Progression. Yang syndromes have rapid nature, so pus matures by day 14; Yin syndromes have slow nature, so pus forms only by day 21. If post-ulceration pus has a mild smell but no foul odor, necrotic tissue sheds easily and new flesh regenerates. Natural increase in diet intake means that even if the sore is large, it ultimately causes no harm. "Yan Qi" refers to the common term "Hala Qi" (referring to the normal, non-foul odor of pus).
