(Attachment: Ru Yan [Breast Rock])
Diseases of the breast are governed by the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian; diseases of the nipple belong to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Nursing mothers who fail to regulate their lifestyle may cause stomach fluids to become turbid, stagnate, and transform into pus. Others suffer from liver injury due to depression, causing Liver Qi stagnation and knotting into a swelling. In the early stage, there must be irritability, thirst, vomiting, alternating chills and fever, and severe pain and swelling; Niubangzi Tang (Arctii Fructus Decoction) is indicated. For swellings caused by rich diet or violent anger stirring up Liver Fire, Juye San (Citrus Aurantium Leaf Powder) is indicated to dissipate them. Furthermore, depression injuring the Liver and overthinking injuring the Spleen, with persistent thoughts and unfulfilled desires, lead to meridian obstruction and stasis, gathering to form nodules. Initially like a bean, they gradually enlarge like a chess piece; after half a year to one year, or even two to three years, without pain or itching, they slowly grow larger, then begin to ache. The pain becomes intractable. Later, the swelling resembles piled chestnuts or an inverted bowl, with a purple color and foul odor. It gradually ulcerates; deep lesions resemble rock caves, while protruding ones look like lotus flowers floating on water. Pain radiates to the heart, bleeding emits a foul smell. At this stage, the Five Viscera are all exhausted, and the Four Extremities cannot be saved; this is named Ru Yan (Breast Rock). Those afflicted with this condition will invariably die. If detected early, Qingjie Jieyu Tang (Clear the Liver and Resolve Depression Decoction) or Yiqi Yangrong Decoction may be used. The patient must also maintain mental clarity and tranquility, free from worries. Medicinal regulation can only prolong life temporarily. ... When a nodule first appears, urgent moxibustion should be applied to the top of the nodule. Wait until the next day for blisters to form, then puncture them. Insert a lancet four fen deep, place strips of Bingsi San (Ice Snail Powder) into the nodule, and seal with paste-covered paper. On the thirteenth day, the nodule will naturally fall off. Apply Yuhong Gao (Jade Red Ointment) to generate flesh and close the wound, followed by maintenance to prevent recurrence. Additionally, male breast structures differ slightly from females. Females injure the Liver and Stomach; males injure the Liver and Kidney. This is generally due to excessive anger and sexual indulgence, leading to Liver deficiency and Blood dryness, and Kidney deficiency with essence weakness. Blood vessels fail to ascend, and the Liver Meridian fails to nourish, resulting in knotted pain and swelling. Treatment should employ Bazhen Decoction with Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) and Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex). For dry mouth and thirst, use Jiawei Bawei Wan (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill). For those with inherent Kidney Qi deficiency, use Shenqi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill). For already ulcerated and suppurating cases, use Shiquan Dabu Decoction. Breast disease in pregnant women is called Neichui (Internal Blowing). Because fetal Qi is vigorous and rushes upward, causing swelling in the Yangming Breast, Shigao San (Gypsum Powder) is indicated to clear heat and dissipate swelling. If delayed, it lingers for a long time, suppurating near delivery, with milk flowing from the nipple pores. The wound is difficult to heal. In such cases, purely using tonifying and pushing-out methods to generate flesh allows the wound to heal easily.
