The above herbs are finely chopped. Using 1.5 jin of lard from the twelfth lunar month, boil in a clean pot for over ten boils. Strain out dregs, add the herbs, and simmer slowly while stirring. The above ingredients are placed in a mortar and ground finely. Combine with wheat paste to form pills the size of wheat grains. The above herbs are ground into powder, further ground in a mortar until uniform. Mix with wild camel fat to form an ointment. Apply to cloth and patch the area. Use twice daily.

For scrofula with swelling, hardness, and pain persisting for a long time, use this formula.
Bat (Vespertilio, collected on Dragon Boat Festival, burned to ash and finely ground).
Male bats (Weng) have no head; female bats (Mu) have a head. First wash the area with wet paper. Wrap the powder in paper and insert into the sore hole. Healing usually occurs within three to five applications. For male bats, mix a small amount of Lead Monoxide (Litargyrus) powder with wheat paste and apply externally to resolve internally.
