For those who experience body edema after taking Rushi (mineral pills), it is due to a diet rich in warm and hot foods, combined with a long-term lack of physical exertion. The heat from the medicine merges with the qi of the minerals, causing Qi stagnation in the skin and muscles, preventing its free circulation and dispersion, which leads to swelling. This is often accompanied by difficult and painful urination.
To treat conditions triggered by Rushi, characterized by phlegm accumulation, loss of appetite, body edema, abdominal and hypochondriac fullness and oppression, and rapid, coarse breathing, the Han Fangji San (Han Fangji Powder) formula is appropriate.
