When cold damage (Shanghan) reaches the seventh day, according to standard pathological laws, it should resolve, as the transmission of pathogens through the Yin and Yang meridians has concluded. If after the seventh day the condition worsens instead, it indicates the onset of a "re-meridian disease" (Zai Jing Bing). A re-meridian disease refers to the meridians receiving pathogenic invasion again.
