发背出现大小便不通的症状，是由于寒邪侵袭经络，导致血液运行不畅而涩滞，进而产生内热；热毒蕴结形成痈肿，气机壅塞在脏腑，热邪深入肠胃，从而导致大小便不通。
治疗发背疮肿，伴有脏腑气机壅滞、大小便不通的木通散方：
木通（一两，锉碎）、黄芩（一两）、栀子仁（一两）、漏芦（一两）、川大黄（二两，锉碎后微炒）、甘草（一两，生用锉碎）、川朴硝（二两）、土瓜根（二两）。
以上药物，捣碎并过筛制成散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至剩余六分药液，滤去药渣。每次在饭前温服，以大便通畅为度。
治疗发背疮肿，伴有大小便不通、心腹壅闷的蘧麦散方：
蘧麦（一两）、滑石（一两半）、栀子仁（一两）、石苇（一两，去毛）、玄参（三分）、络石（一两）、川大黄（一两，锉碎后微炒）、黄芩（一两，锉碎）、红雪（三两）。
以上药物，捣碎并过筛制成散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，加入葱白两根，煎煮至剩余六分药液，滤去药渣。不拘时候，温服。
治疗发背大小便不通，伴有心神烦躁、脐腹部胀闷的芒硝散方：
川芒硝（二两）、川大黄（一两，锉碎后微炒）、栀子仁（一两）、甘草（一两，生用锉碎）、黄芩（一两）。
以上药物，捣碎并过筛制成散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至剩余六分药液，滤去药渣。不拘时候，温服。
治疗发背，伴有肿硬疼痛、大小便不通、心神烦闷的葵子散方：
葵子（一两）、川芒硝（二两）、当归（一两）、黄芩（一两）、木通（一两，锉碎）、甘草（半两，生用锉碎）、麦门冬（一两，去心）、羚羊角屑（三分）。
以上药物，捣碎并过筛制成散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至剩余六分药液，滤去药渣。不拘时候，温服。

大麻仁（一两半）、木香（半两）、枳壳（一两，麸炒至微黄，去瓤）、甘草（三分，生用锉碎）、川大黄（一两半，锉碎后微炒）、牛蒡子（一两，微炒）。
以上药物，捣细罗成粉末，用炼蜜调和，捣杵三二百下，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。不拘时候，用温水送服三十丸，以大便通畅为度。
When a carbuncle on the back (Fabei) is accompanied by obstruction of urination and defecation, it is caused by cold pathogens invading the meridians. This leads to blood stasis and sluggishness, generating internal heat. The accumulation and condensation of this heat form an abscess. Qi becomes congested in the zang-fu organs, and heat enters the intestines and stomach, resulting in the obstruction of both urination and defecation.
**Mutong San Formula (Wood Vine Decoction Powder)** for treating carbuncles on the back with congestion and stagnation in the zang-fu organs, and obstruction of urination and defecation:
* *Akebiae Caulis* (Mutong, 1 liang, sliced)
* *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin, 1 liang)
* *Gardeniae Fructus* (Zhizi Ren, 1 liang)
* *Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba* (Loulu, 1 liang)
* *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Chuan Dahuang, 2 liang, sliced and slightly stir-fried)
* *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao, 1 liang, raw and sliced)
* *Natrii Sulfas* (Chuan Puxiao, 2 liang)
* *Trichosanthes Radix* (Tugua Gen, 2 liang)
Process the above ingredients by pounding and sieving them into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhong of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths of the original volume, remove the dregs, and take warm before meals. Continue until bowel movement is unobstructed.

**Mangxiao San Formula (Mirabilite Powder)** for treating carbuncles on the back with obstruction of urination and defecation, mental restlessness, and oppressive stuffiness in the umbilical and abdominal regions:

* *Arctii Fructus* (Niubangzi, 1 liang, slightly stir-fried)
Process the above ingredients by sifting them into fine powder. Mix with refined honey and pound/knead for three to two hundred strokes. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills at any time, washed down with warm water. Continue until bowel movement is unobstructed.
