Generally, the five Zang organs generate five types of parasites, which result in five forms of Leprosy (Lai disease). These parasites manifest according to the colors associated with each Zang organ. Four types of these parasites can be treated, while only one type, characterized by blackness, is incurable. There are also specific treatments for Da Feng (Great Wind) disease aimed at expelling the five parasites causing Leprosy. The four colored types are treatable, whereas those caused by black parasites are not. It is appropriate to first administer the Awei Leiwan San (Asafoetida and Polyporus Powder) formula.
Awei (Asafoetida, 1 fen, used raw), Leiwan (Polyporus, 0.5 liang), Xionghuang (Realgar, 0.5 liang, finely ground), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 0.5 liang, finely ground), Huashi (Talcum, 0.5 liang), Shidan (Chalcanthite, 1 liang), Shiying (Quartz, 0.5 liang, finely ground).
The above herbs are crushed, passed through a fine sieve to form a powder, mixed with the already ground mineral components, and thoroughly blended. Take 1 qian daily on an empty stomach, mixed with clear wine. When hungry, consume mung bean soup or rice.
