The five zang organs and six fu organs all produce jinye (body fluids). If the zang and fu organs become deficient and generate internal heat, the jinye will be exhausted, resulting in thirst. Frequent drinking of water inevitably leads to dizziness; if accompanied by coldness in the back and vomiting, it is due to deficiency caused by excessive diuresis. A pulse that is slippery and forceful indicates a preference for thirst; the disease may transform into carbuncles and sores, or develop into shuibing (water disease/edema).
