Nasal pain that is unbearable is caused by wind-cold pathogenic factors injuring the Lung organ. This is because Lung Qi connects with the nose; wind pathogens enter the nasal cavity along with the Qi and contend with the healthy Qi.

To treat wind-cold contending in the Lung organ and attacking upwards to the nose, causing nasal pain, it is appropriate to take Moyao San (Myrrh Powder).
Myrrha (Moyao), Dry Scorpion (Ganxie, stir-fried until slightly browned), Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparatum (Tiannanxing, processed until cracked), Realgar (Xionghuang, finely ground), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui, chopped and stir-fried until slightly browned), Cinnabar (Zhusha, finely ground), Calculus Bovis (Niuhuang, finely ground) (each half liang), Black Snake (Wushe, processed).
The above medicines are crushed and passed through a fine sieve to make a powder. Add the already ground medicines and grind evenly. After each meal, take one qian, mixed with warm wine.

For treating nasal congestion accompanied by frequent pain, use Xiongqiong Gao (Ligusticum Ointment).
Rhizoma Chuanxiong (Xiongqiong), Fructus Evodiae (Wuzhuyu), Radix Asari (Xixin), Fructus Zanthoxyli (Chuanjiao), Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum (Ganjiang, processed until cracked), Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis (Zaojia) (each three fen).
