Fever, irritability, mania, and running about.
Treat with the oral administration of Iron Slurry (Tiejiang).
To treat Dian-Kuang (epileptic psychosis), a formidable condition that persists for years without cure, often caused by shock and anxiety, resulting in Phlegm-Saliva stagnating in the orifices of the Heart.
Chandu Yujin (Curcuma aromatica rhizome from the abdomen of cicada, sourced from Shu, 7 liang) Mingfan (Alumen, 3 liang)
Grind the above into powder, form pills using thin starch paste, sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, swallowed with any decoction or water. Upon initial intake, one feels as if an object has detached from the chest and heart region, with spirit becoming refreshed; upon subsequent doses, slight recovery occurs; prolonged use of this medicine greatly expels Phlegm. Another prescription for treating Xian (epilepsy) adds Ginger Juice to form pills, still administered with Ginger Decoction.
And similar ailments.
Take one slice of Carp (Li Yu), prepared and cleaned, cut into pieces. Marinate with Alumen powder (4 liang) for one to two days, then decoct and consume. The disease will surely be cured.
To treat Feng-Dian (wind-induced epilepsy/psychosis), it is appropriate to administer this medicine to induce vomiting.
Take Gudi (Momordica seed) powder (1 qian), mix with hot water and ingest to induce vomiting of Phlegm. If vomiting does not cease, take a small amount of genuine Moschus (Shexiang) dissolved in warm water.
Another formula named Dusheng San (Single Holy Powder) treats various wind-pathogen obstruction and excess syndromes manifesting as Dian, where Phlegm-Saliva and body fluids surge upward; this applies to miscellaneous diseases as well.
Gudi (Momordicae Fructus Semen, 1 liang)
Cut Gudi into sizes resembling hemp seeds, stir-fry until yellow, and grind into fine powder. For each dose, assess the patient's deficiency/excess status and chronicity. Take 3 qian of the powder, mixed with 1 qian of tea, and administer with a cup of sour vinegar juice. If employing the emetic method, choose clear sunny weather; it is ineffective in gloomy conditions. However, for sudden acute cases, do not strictly adhere to this timing rule. Vomiting should be performed before the Si hour (9:00-11:00 AM). Thus, the *Nei Jing* states: From dawn to noon is the time of rising Yang, specifically "Yang within Yang." Regarding seasonal Qi, Zhang Zhongjing stated: "The general principle is to use emetics in Spring," because both Heaven's Qi and Human Qi are located in the upper jiao. In terms of daily Qi, the Yin, Mao, and Chen hours correspond to morning, hence it is preferable to act early rather than late. First, instruct the patient to fast overnight. Do not administer the medicine with hot vinegar water. If treating Feng-Xian (wind-epilepsy), add Quanxie (Scorpio, 0.5 qian), slightly stir-fried. If parasites are present, add Dog Oil (Gouyou) 5-7 drops. If the pathogen is vigorous, add Yuanhua (Kadsura Flower, 0.5 qian) to immediately expel worms. If there is dampness causing swelling and fullness, add Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean, 1 qian). Therefore, this method should not be used routinely. For Excess patterns, use Gudi San (Melon Seed Powder); for Deficiency patterns, use Zhizi Chi Tang (Gardenia and Fermented Soybean Decoction); for fullness, add Houpo (Magnolia Bark). Do not apply uniformly. After vomiting, administer agents that descend fire, promote Qi flow, calm the spirit, and stabilize the mind.
