Manic shouting and running about.
Take one toad; for larger ones, remove the impurities from the intestines until clean, then return the intestines into the abdominal cavity. Place it in a bottle, seal tightly with mud, and burn until red hot.
Apply this externally to cover the affected area; remove it every other day. Add 1 qian of Moschus (Musk), grind together into a fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with fresh cold water.
Treating long-standing jingxian (convulsive epilepsy) due to insufficient Heart blood.
Shou Gong (Gecko, 1 liang, also known as Scincus); Zhenzhu (Pearl); Shexiang (Moschus/Musk); Pian Nao (Borneol). (Each 1 zi, ground finely).
First, take one Gecko, clamp it firmly with an iron pincer, cut off its four feet with scissors, and grind it finely along with its blood. Add approximately 1 zi each of Pearl, Musk, and Borneol, and grind into a fine powder. Mix with Mint Decoction for one dose. Prior to taking this medicine, one must first use Deming San (Life-Restoring Powder) to expel phlegm and saliva, or induce vomiting, and then administer this medicine, which yields great efficacy. This is because epilepsy stems from insufficient Heart blood; the blood of the Gecko is similar to human Heart blood. The extracted blood resembles that of an unmarried girl; when taken, it nourishes the Heart, thus providing tonification. Once the Heart is fully restored, the illness will heal.
Take Lingxiao Hua (Campsis grandiflora flower) ground into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach. During each medication administration, untie the hair and comb continuously with a wooden comb. Keep a large bowl of cold water nearby; hold water in the mouth and replace it when it becomes warm. Stop combing once the bowl of water is exhausted. Follow this method for 49 days to eradicate the root cause completely. It cures regardless of the depth or severity of the disease, with no dietary restrictions.
Treating wind-xian (wind-induced epilepsy) of long-standing or recent onset, Xin Yang Feng Kuang (Heart disorder with wind-manic behavior), stroke-induced phlegm flooding and obstruction, locked jaw, and tetanic convulsions from traumatic wound infection. All are treated with:
Take 1 jin of Zaojiao (Gleditsia sinensis fruit). Select high-quality, plump specimens free from insect damage. Remove the skin and strings, and chop into pieces. Soak in 1 large bowl of Jiangshui (fermented grain water) for 3-4 days in spring and autumn, 7 days in winter, and 1-2 days in summer. Rub to extract clean Jiangshui. Pour the soaked Zaojiao juice into a silver vessel or clay pot. Simmer slowly over mild fire, stirring with new willow twigs or locust branches. Boil until it reaches a paste-like consistency. Spread onto layered paper and dry in the shade for storage. When encountering a patient, take a piece the size of a palm, dissolve it in a cup with warm Jiangshui. Use a bamboo tube to hold the medicinal liquid. Assist the patient to sit securely, tilt the head slightly upward, and blow the medicine into both nostrils. After a while, lift the patient; the emergence of phlegm/saliva indicates efficacy. To stop the discharge, have the patient drink 1-2 mouthfuls of warm salt water. Avoid chicken, fish, raw/cold foods, hard items, and damp wheat products.
