Qibo stated: Individuals who contract pathogenic factors during the Geng and Xin days of autumn will suffer from Lung Wind. This occurs because the Couli (pores) are open and sparse, righteous Qi is deficient and timid, allowing wind pathogens to invade and attack the Zang-Fu organs.
The Lung governs Qi; Qi belongs to Wei Qi (Defensive Qi), which is Yang in nature. Yang Qi circulates on the exterior, following the skin. If Wei Qi is deficient, wind pathogens contend with it, resulting in chest fullness and shortness of breath. This is described as the mutual restriction of Metal (Lung) and Wood (Liver), where Liver and Lung counteract each other. Symptoms include dizziness and oppression, sweating, trembling during inhalation and exhalation, hoarse and obstructed voice, heavy body, and flaccid weakness of the four limbs. When the pulse is floating and wiry, it indicates Wind striking the Lung Zang.
To treat disease of the Lung Meridian characterized by excessive sweating, aversion to wind, intermittent coughing, shortness of breath, improvement during the day and worsening at night, lying supine with chest fullness, rapid breathing, and dizziness/oppression, this indicates wind pathogen striking the Lung. Observe the area on both sides of the nose, extending down to the mouth and up to the eyebrows; if the skin appears white, urgently moxa-burn the Feishu (BL13) acupoint 100 moxa cones. If the color is yellow, the Lung has been damaged, and transformation into blood has occurred, making it incurable. If the patient exhibits aimless grasping at empty air, pointing fingers at the ground, picking at clothes, or stroking the bed, such symptoms persisting for several days will inevitably lead to death.
