131. Chifuling Tang (Cudrania Root Decoction). Treats post-rash/post-smallpox symptoms in children, including cough with inverted qi, hypochondriac pain, and anorexia.
Ingredients: Chifuling (Poria cocos), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted), Daqing (Indigo Naturalis), Shengma (Bupleuri Radix), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, bran-fried), each 0.5 liang; Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), 1 fen.
Crush the above ingredients into coarse powder. Take 1 qian per dose, add 1 small zhan of water, 17 leaves of Ku Zhu Ye (Bitter Bamboo Leaf), and 30 grains of Douchi (Fermented Soybean). Simmer together until reduced to 1/5 zhan. Strain and divide into three doses. Administer 3-4 times daily, adjusting dosage according to the child's age. This formula treats hypochondriac pain after rash/smallpox because post-illness toxic factors cause chaos, obstructing the ascending and descending of Qi. The left and right sides are pathways for Yin and Yang Qi and where Qi circulates; stagnation here causes hypochondriac pain. Zhike broadens the intestines and directs Qi downward to smooth flow and relieve pain. Daqing and Zhizi clear accumulated heat. Shengma resolves toxicity. Chifuling guides Heart Fire downward, benefits the Small Intestine, removes heat that would otherwise overcome Lung Qi, thereby naturally calming cough and inverted qi.
132. Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction). Treats severe fever accompanied by vomiting; suitable for administration.

Crush into coarse powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1 zhan of water, 2 slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), and 1 Zao (Jujubae Fructus). Simmer until reduced to half a zhan. Strain and take warm. If cough is present, add Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) and simmer. For headache, fever, and limb/joint pain, use Siwei Shengma Tang (Four-Ingredient Bupleurum Decoction). For constipation, use Sishun Yin (Four-Smooth Drink). If spontaneous diarrhea occurs with yellow-black stool, it indicates the toxin has an exit; do not widely administer decoctions to avoid aggravating other conditions. The bowels will naturally unblock; do not assist with warm medicines as rashes are sparse and the body feels comfortable. Only administer Siwei Shengma Tang or Jingjie San (Schizonepeta Powder). Although warm medicines should not be used when bowels are unblocked, if diarrhea is severe, administer a small amount of warm medicine.
133. Daqing Siwu Tang (Great Indigo Four-Substance Decoction). Treats febrile disease lasting over ten days where heat persists after sweating, vomiting, and purging, accompanied by eruptive macules on the body.

14. Shatangshui (Sand Sugar Water). Treats pustular stage of rashes/pox where toxins have fully emerged in the skin but scabs have not yet formed.
It is appropriate to mix sand sugar water for the child to drink. When pustules float and dry, help the child pick off the scabs to allow blood to flow out, ensuring no scars remain. If left to dry naturally, a scar will inevitably remain. Later generations, seeing that sand sugar water dries sores without checking if toxins are expelled, indiscriminately administered it, causing many cases of eye damage. Generally, when rashes form pus, toxins are fully out in the skin, and sand sugar water can be taken. However, if blood has not yet formed pus, toxins are not fully out; taking sand sugar water then damages the eyes. Children eating sugar, honey, dates, or persimmons during rash illness may suffer from sores entering the eyes. Families cooking goose or duck eggs while the child has rashes: if the child smells the egg odor, membranes may grow in the eyes. These foods must be avoided.
