The breath exhaled from the mouth and nose swirls and does not dissipate, condensing into a shape resembling a black cover. After ten days, this condition spreads to the shoulders and connects with them, becoming hard as metal or stone, making it impossible to eat or drink. Administer Zexie Tang (Alisma Decoction), drinking three cups daily, and continue for five days until cured. (From Xia Ziyi's *Qiji Fang*)

The itching is unbearable, and brushing or sweeping cannot remove it. There are cases where a person lying down feels that there is another body outside their own, identical in appearance but silent. This occurs because when a person sleeps, the Hun (Ethereal Soul) returns to the Liver. This disease arises from Liver deficiency allowing pathogenic factors to invade, causing the Hun to fail to return to its residence, named "Li Hun" (Separated Soul). Use Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Longchi (Draconis Os), and Chifuling (Poria Cocos with Red Cortex), each one qian, add one cup of water, and decoct until half a cup remains. Mix in Feiguo Zhusha (Prepared Cinnabar) one qian, and take before sleep. Take once per night; after three nights, the true self will feel refreshed, and the false phantom will dissolve. Another account states: one may feel that their original body has become two people walking and lying side by side, visible not only during sleep. If Longchi is unavailable, use only the other three herbs in a strong decoction, drink during the day, and it is not limited to bedtime administration. (From Xia Ziyi's *Qiji Fang*)
In some cases, the hands and feet suddenly grow abnormally, producing inverted fleshy spines sharp as awls, causing unbearable pain. Consuming Kuicai (Malva verticillata leaves) cures this. (From Xia Ziyi's *Qiji Fang*)
Suddenly, the skin beneath the whole body churns turbulently like waves, causing unbearable itching. Scratching draws blood, yet the symptom persists, termed "Qi Ben" (Rushing Qi). Use Kuzhang (Polygoni Cuspidati Rhizoma et Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Qingyan (Natrii Chloridum), and Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), each one liang, as a single dose. Decoct in water, drink slowly until finished to achieve cure. (Note: Kuzhang is also known as Huzhang; Ban Zhang; Suan Zhang. Its stem resembles Polygonum orientale, leaves are round like apricot leaves, branches are yellow like willow, flowers resemble chrysanthemums, and color resembles peach blossoms. There is another plant called Ban Zhang whose root resembles a human head; although sharing the name, it is a different species and must not be confused.) (From Xia Ziyi's *Qiji Fang*)
Chills and fever persist without cessation. After several days, the limbs become stiff, producing a sound like bells or chimes when struck, and the body gradually emaciates.
