Phlegm obstructing the throat causing discomfort, leukorrhea that is green or yellow, and abdominal and hypochondriac distension. After using qi-moving agents, chest and diaphragm discomfort worsened, and the limbs felt numb. This was due to depression and anger damaging the Liver and Spleen. In the morning, Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) was used to resolve Spleen depression and generate Spleen Qi. In the evening, Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) was used to nourish Liver Blood and clear Liver Fire. After taking more than a hundred doses, the patient recovered.
A woman with chronic malaria accompanied by leukorrhea presented with fever, dry mouth, and fatigue. Seven-Ingredient White Atractylodes Macrocephala Decoction (Qiw Wei Ba Zhu San) added with Ophiopogon Tuber (Maimen Dong) and Schisandra Berry (Wu Wei Zi) was decocted in large quantities for her to drink freely. Symptoms improved slightly upon recurrence. Subsequently, Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Poria (Fuling) and Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia) was used, and she recovered after more than ten doses.
A woman suffered from dizziness and vomiting of phlegm, chest fullness, and asthma, which relieved slightly after eating. She had been troubled by leukorrhea for over twenty years without response to various medicines. This was Qi deficiency leading to fluid retention and phlegm; once the phlegm resolved, the leukorrhea healed spontaneously. Thus, Liu Junzi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction) was taken in the morning, and Liuhuang Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) in the evening, showing results within a month.
A woman presented with tinnitus, chest stuffiness, internal heat, dry mouth, a sensation of a lump in the throat with difficulty swallowing, irregular menstruation, and leukorrhea. I diagnosed it as Liver and Spleen depression. Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) added with Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia), Gardenia Fruit (Shanzhi), Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma), and Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) was used, intermittently combined with Siqi Tang (Four-Seven Decoction) administered with Baiwanzi (White Pills), resulting in recovery.
A woman suffered from acid regurgitation, fullness, poor appetite, loose stools, and irregular menstruation. After taking Qingqi Huatan Wan (Clear Qi and Resolve Phlegm Pill), her knees gradually swelled, she experienced alternating chills and fever, yellowish-white leukorrhea, sallow complexion, and fatigue. This was due to dual deficiency of the Spleen and Stomach with damp-phlegm sinking downward. Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with increased amounts of Ginseng (Renshen) and Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu), added with Poria (Fuling), Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia), and Prepared Ginger (Paojiang), cured her.
A woman with leukorrhea complained of weakness in the four limbs. I said: The four limbs belong to Earth (Spleen/Stomach). This was Spleen-Stomach deficiency with damp-phlegm sinking downward. Treatment with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) and Jisheng Guipi Tang (Jisheng Restore the Spleen Decoction) led to recovery.
A woman with yellowish-white leukorrhea experienced chest diaphragm discomfort when angry and reduced appetite. Someone used digestive and qi-promoting drugs, leading to phlegm-induced asthma, chest fullness, and hematochezia. I said: This was due to Spleen Qi damage failing to control blood and return it to its source. Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Poria (Fuling), Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia), and Prepared Ginger (Paojiang) reduced symptoms drastically in four doses. Then, Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction) added with Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) and Gardenia Fruit (Shanzhi) cured her.

This disease is caused by cold-damp invading the uterus, hence preferring dryness and hating dampness. Yin fire of the Liver channel surges to the exterior, causing upward congestion and eye issues. Kidney Water invades the Liver and surges upward, causing blurred vision. Teeth hating hot drinks indicates latent fire in the Shaoyang and Yangming channels. One must strongly drain cold-damp using pills. It is said: Cold in the Lower Jiao requires slow treatment; decoctions and powders are strictly forbidden. Use wine-processed Baishizhi and Bailonggu to dry dampness. Use Pao Jiang (Prepared Ginger) to drain cold-water with great acridity and heat. Use Huangbo (Phellodendron Bark) of great cold as the specific agent and guide. The treatment principle states: Even for grave crimes, do not cut off the lineage. Follow the intent of subduing the primary pathogen and addressing the cause, and draining the heat hated by the teeth. Use Chaihu (Bupleurum Root) as the guiding herb of its channel, and half a qian of Shaoyao (Peony Root) to guide it. To prevent excessive damage to the Liver channel from acrid-hot herbs, mildly drain it. Use Xinwen (Acrid-Warm) Danggui Shen (Body of Angelica Root) to harmonize the blood vessels. This method of medication is complete.

[Cooling Agents]
Heat pain in the lower abdomen is Heat Mass (Re Jia). Treat according to Liu Hejian's method.
[Bao]: Red leukorrhea indicates heat entering the Small Intestine; white indicates heat entering the Large Intestine. Fundamentally, both are damp-heat knotting in the vessels, causing fluids to surge, resulting in red and white leukorrhea. Originally not a knotting disease, but due to deficiency of the five vessel pulses, heat knots and stagnates in the Dai Vessel, causing lower abdominal pain and continuous discharge from the yin in women. The Classic says: Disease of the Ren Vessel causes seven types of hernia in men internally, and leukorrhea and masses in women. Wang's Commentary says: The Ren Vessel passes over the Dai Vessel from the uterus, piercing above the navel, hence hernia in men and leukorrhea in women. The Dai Vessel originates at Zhangmen in the flank, resembling a belt. Now, damp-heat knots and does not disperse, causing disease. The Classic says: Spleen transmitting to Kidney is named Hernia-Mass; Small Intestine knotting causes pain and white discharge, also named Gu, thus causing leukorrhea knotting. 'Yuan' means屈 (stagnation). Stagnation and heat not dispersing: first use Shizao Tang (Ten Date Decoction) to purge, then take Kulian Wan (Melia Pill) and Dayanhusan (Great Corydalis Powder) to regulate. Once heat leaves and dampness is removed, the disease heals itself. (Shizao Tang seen in previous notes. Dayanhusan formula seen in Menstrual Regulation Section, Blood-Breaking条目.)

The above three formulas treat leukorrhea. Diyü is a cold-astringent agent, suitable for cases with abundant damp-heat and sliding discharge. Note: San Ye Suan Jiang Cao has leaves fine as duckweed, growing in clusters, with three leaves at the stem tip. Commonly known as Cuckoo Rice. Cuckoo refers to the dove/pigeon, which often eats it, hence also called Jiujang Cao (Dove Juice Grass). "Yanyi" mistakenly confused it with Ku HT (Oxalis). Is Ku HT the same as Suan Jiang? (Ku HT has fruit the size of a kumquat, sour and edible, hence also called Suan Jiang, not three-leaved. San Ye Suan Jiang is a small grass spreading on the ground, leaves all in three lobes, only opens yellow flowers, stems and leaves are all sour.)
Note: Diyü is originally a blood-level herb, and its nature is cold, so it can stop bleeding caused by heat in the blood level forcing movement; it is not an astringent agent.

Hetou Wan (Crane Top Pill): There are three types of leukorrhea. Unmarried girls: menstruation starts, stops, and immediately gets leukorrhea, perhaps from bathing in cold water, fanning while hot, or exposure to wind. This is the cause of leukorrhea in unmarried girls. Married women: excessive intercourse damages the uterus collaterals, wind pathogens enter via deficiency, cold touches the uterus meridians, causing foul fluid to connect with blood and discharge. Postpartum leukorrhea: due to blood loss and qi deficiency, damaging the uterus lining, opening the gate for external wind, body deficiency allowing cold wind in. Cold wind connects with heat qi, forming fluid discharge. Cold yields mostly white, heat yields mostly red. Cold and heat intersect, yielding both red and white.
