Its efficacy lies in nourishing blood. The formula is named "Daishen" (Ginseng Substitute), which is somewhat exaggerated and unrealistic.
[Processed Chenpi] It is effective in resolving phlegm, regulating qi, relieving thirst, and generating fluids. The preparation method is as follows: Take Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (one jin [approx. 500g], soaked in clear water for seven days, thoroughly removing the white pith), and decoct it together with Ta Dangshen (Codonopsis Radix) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each six liang [approx. 300g]) for one day. After decoction, remove the Dangshen and Gancao, retaining only the Chenpi. Add Chuan Beimu (Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus) (one and a half liang [approx. 75g], ground into fine powder) and Qingyan (Halitum) (three liang [approx. 150g]), mix evenly. Then decoct again over slow fire for a full day and night, until dry.
(Gui's Note): The nature of this formula is purely mild and harmonious. Prepared as a proprietary medicine, its effect far surpasses that of Ji's prepared Ge Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma processed with Alum and Ginger) and Ge's prepared Banxia. Grinding it into powder and storing it tightly sealed allows for long-term preservation and transport to distant places.
