(Fetus-bearing women) who prefer cold and desire to see people, this is a Fu-organ disease belonging to Yang. Those who prefer warmth and do not desire to see people, this is a Zang-organ disease belonging to Yin.
If a woman’s uterus (Baozhong) suffers severe injury, with evil blood (Evil Blood) accumulating over time to form a mass (Jia), the disease presents as abdominal pain, rebellious Qi causing fullness, and Qi rushing upward. If the Chi pulse (Cun-Chi Pulse Position) is choppy and firm, it indicates excess Blood and deficiency of Qi; if the Chi pulse is thin and faint, it indicates deficiency of both Blood and Qi, with insufficient Grain Qi, and the pulse changes at every solar term; death may occur when jujube leaves sprout.
For women suffering from red and white leukorrhea, a slow and slippery pulse is auspicious, while a rapid and hurried pulse is inauspicious.
After recent childbirth, a slow and slippery pulse indicates survival; a full, large, wiry, and urgent pulse indicates death; a deep and small pulse is auspicious; a firm and solid pulse is inauspicious. If the Cun-Kou pulse is deep and faint, but pressing to the bone reveals continuous pulse movement, survival is indicated; a choppy, rapid, and irregular pulse indicates death.
After childbirth, a deep, small, and solid pulse is auspicious; a floating and deficient pulse is inauspicious.
In postpartum febrile diseases, a fine pulse with warm limbs indicates survival; a large pulse with cold limbs indicates death.
Regarding postpartum pulses: slow, slippery, deep, small, or fine pulses indicate survival; full, large, wiry, urgent, firm, or solid pulses indicate death.
Pulse movement entering the birth canal indicates pregnancy. (This refers to the pulse extending beyond the Chi position, termed the "birth canal".)
A rapid and vigorous pulse at the Chi position indicates a fetal pulse. (Another view states that a thin, slippery, and unbroken pulse indicates pregnancy; another view suggests that a faint pulse signifies closed meridians forming a fetus, or a pulse with rapid qualities indicating abundant Blood signifies pregnancy.)
A floating and洪大 (Hongda, large and forceful) pulse at the left Chi position indicates a male fetus; a deep and solid pulse at the right Chi position indicates a female fetus.
A slippery pulse at the Guan position indicates pregnancy. (*Suwen* states: Slippery indicates abundant Blood and deficient Qi, hence pregnancy.)
A floating and large Cun-Kou pulse on the left indicates a male fetus; a deep and thin Cun-Kou pulse on the right indicates a female fetus.
A Hongda pulse in the Foot-Taiyang Bladder meridian indicates a male pregnancy; a Hongda pulse in the Hand-Taiyin Lung meridian indicates a female pregnancy.
Yang pulses generally indicate males; Yin pulses generally indicate females. A Yin pulse revealing Yang characteristics indicates a male; a Yang pulse revealing Yin characteristics indicates a female.
Excessive movement in the Hand-Shaoyin Heart pulse indicates pregnancy.
Vigorous pulses at both Chi positions indicate twin males; deep and solid pulses at both Chi positions indicate twin females. (Another view states that a longitudinal pattern in the left pulse indicates twin males, where "longitudinal" means husband overcoming wife, also known as the Ghost-Thief pulse. Wang Shi’s *Mai Jing* states: Water overcoming Fire, Metal overcoming Wood is called Longitudinal. A transverse pattern in the right pulse indicates twin females, where "transverse" means wife overcoming husband, also known as the Overcoming Pulse. Fire overcoming Water, Wood overcoming Metal is called Transverse.)
A reverse pattern in the left pulse indicates triplets of males. ("Reverse" means offspring overcoming parent, i.e., what one generates. Wang Shi states: Water overcoming Metal, Fire overcoming Wood is called Reverse.) A smooth/forward pattern in the right pulse indicates triplets of females. ("Forward" means parent overcoming offspring, i.e., what generates oneself. This refers to Metal overcoming Water, Wood overcoming Fire, called Forward.)
When the Cun, Guan, and Chi pulses are consistent in size and speed, it indicates twins of one male and one female. (Another view states that Hongda pulses in both the Foot-Taiyang and Hand-Taiyin meridians indicate one male and one female.)
A slippery and rapid pulse indicates a three-month fetus. If merely rapid without scattering, it indicates five months.
One beat followed by one pause at the Guan position indicates one month; two beats followed by one pause indicates two months.
The Zhongchong point connects with the Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian and the uterine collaterals; a slippery and rapid pulse here indicates conception up to ninety days (approx. three months).
A deep, thin, and slippery Chi pulse, or a Li-Jing pulse, accompanied by pain felt at midnight, indicates delivery at noon.
