In Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction), add Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood), Suan Zao Ren (Ziziphus Seed), Shan Yao (Dioscorea Rhizome), Shi Zao, and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra Fruit). The condition was cured immediately. Later, due to overwork, the condition recurred and worsened. Shiquan Dabu Tang (Complete Great Tonifying Decoction) with the aforementioned herbs was used, leading to gradual improvement; subsequently, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang with the aforementioned herbs was used for complete recovery.
A scholar experienced tightness and dryness in both eyes every afternoon during the Shen hour (15:00–17:00), unable to see. This was caused by the sinking of Yuan Qi (Primal Qi). Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang was prescribed with doubled doses of Ren Shen (Ginseng Root) and Huang Qi (Astragalus Root). After several doses, the condition was cured.
Another discussion: After an eye disease, there is slight upper heat, redness of the sclera, excessive discharge and tearing, frequent pain, and difficulty opening the eyes due to a gritty sensation. This results from excessive use of bitter-cold herbs, preventing Zhen Qi (True Qi) from unblocking the nine orifices, thus causing blurred vision. Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang was prescribed, removing Ren Shen, Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), and Chen Pi (Tangerine Peel), and adding Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root), Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica Root), and Man Jing Zi (Vitex Fruit).
Another discussion: Internal cataracts arise from deficiency of Yuan Qi and Spleen-Stomach weakness, combined with excess Heart Fire and San Jiao (Triple Burner). Irregular diet, physical overexertion, and lack of rest lead to these upper symptoms. Yi Qi Tang (Qi-Augmenting Decoction) was prescribed with Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), and Wu Wei Zi, removing Chen Pi.
Another discussion covers various types of nebulae, pterygium, internal cataracts, and blindness.

Rui Ren (Praecognatus Semen, 5 liang: remove coarse shell, take the kernel, soak in warm water to remove tender skin, membrane, tips, and heart; wrap in high-quality white bamboo paper, pound to remove all oil, then take 5 qian)

Bai Ci Sha (White Magnetic Sand: i.e., good white fine porcelain, 4–5 qian; use one bowl of vinegar at head strength. Place the porcelain in a clay pot, heat on charcoal fire until red-hot, first immerse in vinegar seven times. Then use one bowl of child's urine, heat until red-hot, immerse seven times. Then mix one bowl of vinegar and child's urine, heat until red-hot, immerse seven times. First grind the magnetic material, clarify with water, take the middle part, dry in shade, 5 fen)
Good Zhen Zhu (Pearl, 8–9 fen: insert into the belly of a rooster, leave overnight, then slaughter the chicken to retrieve the pearl; steam with tofu, take 5 fen)

Refine all ingredients together, grind finely. Apply to eyes as desired; for blindness, re-grind and apply.
Another treatment for Blood and Qi deficiency causing dim vision. This involves strengthening Water to control Yang Fire. Errors in taking cold-cooling herbs have led to total obstruction in darkness. Shiquan Dabu Tang was prescribed with Chen Xiang (Aquilaria Wood), Da Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root), and Bai Dou Kou (Black Cardamom). Li Dongyuan stated that if one can see far but not near, it is due to excess Fire and deficient Water. The method should be to tonify the Kidney, primarily using Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia). If one can see near but not far, it is due to having Water but lacking Fire. The method should be to tonify the Heart, primarily using Ding Zhi Wan (Stabilize Spirit Pill) added with Fu Ling (Poria). It is also said: for inability to see near, take Di Huang Wan in the morning; for inability to see far, take Ding Zhi Wan before bed. This unblocks the Hand and Foot Shaoyin meridians. Thus, inability to see near indicates Kidney Water deficiency and excess Fire; inability to see far indicates Heart Blood insufficiency.
Ding Zhi Wan (Stabilize Spirit Pill)
Yuan Zhi (Polygalae Radix, dehearted)
Shi Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) (each 2 liang)
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 1 liang)
Bai Fu Shen (Poria cum Hostwood, 3 liang)
Add Bai Fu Ling (Poria, 1 liang).
Grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, coat with Zhu Sha (Cinnabar). Take 20 pills per dose, washed down with rice soup.
