The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: Lying supine for a long time after a full meal can lead to Qi Tou Feng (Wind-Cold of the Head caused by Qi stagnation).
It also states: Washing hair after a full meal can induce Tou Feng (Head Wind).
It also states: In summer, one should not sleep with the face exposed; if dew falls on the face, it thickens the facial skin and predisposes one to tinea (fungal infection). Another view is that it causes Mian Feng (Facial Wind); treatments such as herbal decoction compresses, moxibustion, acupuncture, and stone therapy have separate specific formulas. The methods of nourishment and Daoyin (guiding and pulling exercises) are attached below.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* (Daoyin Methods from Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: Use one hand to push the chin upward to the extreme limit, while the other hand extends backward and strains vigorously. Open palms toward the four directions simultaneously to reach the extreme posture. Perform this seven times. Switch hands and repeat. Push the chin with both hands outward while tilting the head sideways. Turn the body fourteen times. This removes wind from the arms and axillae.
It also states: Loosen the hair, sit facing east, perform Gu Shi (firmly grasping the thumb into the palm), hold the breath once, raise hands and perform left-right Daoyin, cover both ears with hands. This treats Tou Feng (Head Wind) and prevents graying of the hair. Stroke the head five times to unblock meridians.
It also states: One should finish eating after sunset. After eating, avoid alcohol consumption throughout the day to prevent dry retching. Avoid cold vinegar or sour drinks with hot, greasy foods, as this may cause loss of voice or throat obstruction. Sleeping with the head supported by hands or sleeping on hot food can cause Tou Feng (Head Wind) and result in a sallow complexion.
It also states: Sit upright, straighten the waist, tilt the head left and right, close the eyes, and inhale through the nose. This eliminates Tou Feng (Head Wind). Continue until reaching the limit, stopping after seven breaths.
It also states: For headache, exhale slowly through the nose thirty times, then rest.
It also states: Hug both knees and roll onto the ground, holding the breath eight times. This treats various diseases from the chest up to the head, including pain in the ears, eyes, nose, and throat.
It also states: To treat headache by holding the breath, strain the nose maximally, then lie supine to rest. Stop when sweating occurs.
It also states: Cross hands behind the head and shake vigorously fourteen times. Flip palms over and place them fourteen times. Tilt the head backward as much as possible. For each posture, twist sharply at the four corners twenty-one times. This removes wind from the head, armpits, elbows, and arms.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: Embrace the right knee against the chest with both hands to dispel Feng Xuan (Wind-induced Vertigo).
It also states: Hold a pulley with both hands and hang upside down so that the feet are above the head. This cures Tou Xuan (Head Vertigo), Feng Dian (Wind Epilepsy). Sit on the ground, extend legs, tie them with a large rope. After securing the rope, drag the pulley up and down. Pull the rope with both hands so that the feet are above and the head below, keeping feet off the ground. Perform this twelve times to cure Tou Xuan (Head Vertigo) and Feng Dian (Wind Epilepsy). Long-term practice enables the body to remain suspended in air without falling.
It also states: Extend one hand long, join palms upward. Grasp the chin with the other hand and pull outward. Reach the extreme posture fourteen times. Repeat on the other side. Keep hands still, pull laterally to the extreme fourteen times. This relieves neck stiffness, Tou Feng (Head Wind), Brain Xuan (Vertigo), Bi Syndrome of the throat, cold accumulation in the inner arm, and hemiplegic wind.
It also states: When one feels rigidity in the back, regardless of season, retract the throat and inner arms, look up, strain the Jing-Well points of the arms upward, and move the head left and right. Perform fourteen times on each side, then pause. Wait for blood circulation and Qi movement to settle before resuming. Start slow, then become urgent; do not start urgent and then slow. If free of illness, practice during three times: morning rise, noon, and sunset. Each session consists of fourteen repetitions. This dispels Cold-Heat disorders, wind-damp bi in the spine, waist, neck, and occiput, oral ulcers, dental wind, neck issues, and head vertigo, eliminating all diseases.
It also states: Sit on the ground, cross legs, insert both hands through the bent legs, lower the head, and interlock hands behind the neck. This treats chronic cold. Without this, self-moistening may occur, leading to deafness.
It also states: Place feet on the neck, hold breath twelve times to achieve cure.
It also states: Severe cold without feeling warmth, chronic stubborn cold, suffering from deafness and vertigo. Long-standing illness requires adherence to these methods; the body's state becomes fixed after five or six cycles.
It also states: Lower the head, hold breath six times. Treats deafness, eye vertigo, and throat obstruction.
It also states: Lie prone firmly, hold breath six times. Cures deafness and vertigo. Depending on which ear is affected, lie prone with knees together, pressing ears firmly to the ground. Exert mental focus and physical strength to the maximum limit. This cures deafness and vertigo. Persistent practice allows hearing in all ten directions and enables inversion without dizziness. These eight techniques share this method and are applicable even in difficult-to-treat conditions.
