The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: When a person sees a straight wall within ten paces, they should not lie down parallel to the wall. The sharp wind blowing against the body will inevitably trigger epilepsy and a sensation of heaviness in the body. When lying down, one should face east during spring and summer, and west during autumn and winter; this is the standard method. Regarding treatments such as hot compresses (Tangwu) and acupuncture with stone needles (Bianshi), there are separate specific formulas. Methods for nourishment and guiding exercises (Daoyin) are attached hereafter.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* (Guiding and Pulling Methods from Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: Turn the head to look backward, hold the breath seven times, to treat cough with reverse flow of Qi, chest diseases, alternating chills and fever associated with epilepsy, throat obstruction, dryness of the throat, and a sensation of blockage in the throat.
It also states: Hold the wheel of a well sweep (Lulu) with both hands and hang upside down, so that the feet are above the head, to cure dizziness and wind-induced epilepsy. Sit on the ground and extend both legs, bind them with a rope. After securing with a large rope, drag the wheel up and down, pulling the rope with both hands so that the feet are above and the head below, without letting the feet leave the ground. Perform this to one's utmost capacity thirteen times to cure dizziness and wind-induced epilepsy. Practicing this for a long time allows the body to remain suspended in the air without falling.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: The Spleen corresponds to Earth. Just as Earth is warm like human flesh, only then can sweat be induced to expel Wind-Cold pathogenic factors. If there is Qi distension in the abdomen, one must first warm the feet and massage the area above and below the umbilicus and the Qihai (Sea of Qi, CV6) acupoint. The number of repetitions is unlimited, but more is better. If one can rotate left and right twenty-one times each, harmonizing the Qi as if using it, and employing the one hundred and thirteen methods within the body to rotate the three hundred and sixty bone joints, shaking the arteries and tendons, distributing and moistening Qi and Blood, and harmonizing the Twenty-Four Solar Terms, the Zang-Fu organs will be evenly regulated. With Harmonious Qi in use, the head rotates and vibrates. Hand Qi moves upward, Heart Qi moves downward, clearly distinguishing past from future. Do not worry about whether hands are level or waist is bent; turning the body and massaging Qi, bending and returning, exhaustingly disperse the Qi, sending it to the Yongquan (Spring Underfoot, KI1) acupoint. Ensure that the movement of Qi is not lost in any aspect. Use these methods for guidance and benefit; if one does not understand how to use them, one may suspect that the Qi is chaotic.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: The Secret Formula of Shangqing Zhenren says: Grinding teeth frequently while walking at night can kill Gui-Evil (Ghost Pathogens).
It also states: The Daoist Canon describes the method for treating a hundred diseases: Clench teeth fourteen times (two sets of seven), then swallow Qi fourteen times. If continued until three hundred cycles, and practiced for twenty days, all pathogenic factors will be expelled. Minor illnesses will heal in sixty days, major illnesses will be eliminated in one hundred days, and the Three Gu Poisons and Fushi Ghosts will all depart, leaving the face and body lustrous. The *Wusheng Jing* (Scripture of No Birth) states: To treat various evils, ghosts, insects, and poisons, one should lie flat on the back, close the eyes, and hold the breath. Visualize the Dantian (Elixir Field). Slowly inhale through the nose until the abdomen is extremely full, then slowly exhale through the mouth without making sound. Allow more intake than output, keeping it subtle. Thus, visualize the Five Zang Organs, observing their respective colors and shapes. Also visualize the Stomach, making it bright and pure white, like unbleached silk. Stop when exhaustion is extreme and sweating occurs. Apply powder to the body and massage the form. If exhausted without sweating, one may also stop. Repeat this the following day.
It also states: One should visualize great thunder and lightning, rumbling loudly, causing ghosts to enter the abdomen. Continuing this visualization without stopping will cause the illness to naturally disappear.
It also states: Feng Junda often rode a green ox, Lu Nvsheng often rode a piebald (spotted) ox, Meng Zichuo often rode a piebald horse, and Jun Gongdu often rode a green mule. People of the time did not know their names, hence it is said: "If you wish to avoid death, ask the Green Ox Daoist." If you wish to attain this color, the piebald ox is superior, the green ox is secondary, and the piebald horse is tertiary. These three colors correspond to the Qi of generation. Therefore, it is said that the Green Ox is the spirit of cypress wood; the Piebald Ox is the ancestor of ancient divine ancestors; the Piebald Horse is the ancestor of divine dragons. It is said that Daoists riding these creatures along the road can subdue all evil spirits and epidemic Li-Ghosts (pestilential demons) for a long time.
