(Attached to the section on eating without knowing satiety)
*Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases by Chao): Syndrome of Infantile Injury from Overeating: Infants' food intake must not be excessive. Overeating damages the Spleen; when the Spleen is damaged, it cannot grind and digest food. This causes heaviness in the limbs, bodily heat, yellowish complexion, and abdominal distension. Regarding the syndrome of infants eating without knowing satiety: Some infants have a craving for food; after eating, they still do not feel full, yet they fail to gain muscle mass. They also present with abdominal distension, frequent stools with diarrhea, which is also called "Huoxie" (loose stool syndrome). This is due to the intestines and stomach failing to maintain their functions.
*Sheng Hui Fang* (Beneficent Prescriptions of the Holy Era): Discussion: Infants have unregulated Qi and Blood, and their intestines and stomachs are weak and tender. Nursing and feeding must be appropriate. If milk and food are taken in excess, the Spleen and Stomach become distended and unable to digest, which is termed "injury from overeating."
