《巢氏病源》小儿夜啼候∶小儿夜啼者，脏冷故也。夜阴气盛，与冷相搏则冷动。冷动与脏气相并，或烦或
痛，故令小儿夜啼也。然亦有犯触禁忌，亦令儿夜啼，则可法术断之也。
《茅先生方》∶小儿生下三腊以前，有中夜啼，其候属阴。遇起灯前后发啼，至天明不住，如见此候用抹唇
膏（方见本门中。）遇夜抹上下两唇，更用朱砂膏（方见惊积门中。）夜更无，啼止。
汉东王先生《家宝》小儿夜啼候∶（诸书皆以惊啼为热，夜啼为寒。独汉东王先生以夜啼为热，必以诸啼通言之也。）
孩儿夜啼者，非
是鬼神为祟，盖因胎热伏心。（其母怀妊时或值热月，或好吃热食，流入胞中，
养后入于心脏，故使热入心而夜啼。）阴则与阳相刑，热则
与阳相合。腹中躁闷，所以夜啼。（日属阳，夜属阴。日中不哭，夜便多啼。）
《水鉴》先生论云∶天苍苍，（天者上也。人以心为帝王，一身之主，故呼为于苍苍者，被
外风所伤，故云∶苍苍生其别物。地王王，地者土也。
脾属中央戊己土，故云地也。王王者是盛也，王音旺也。此是脾脏热盛。）小儿夜啼疏客堂。（心
是神之舍，亦呼为客堂。疏者即是转泻。）
钱乙论夜啼云∶脾脏冷而痛也，当与温中之药及以法禳之，花火膏主之（方见本门中。）
《婴童宝鉴》论小儿夜啼，为腹有痛处并有神祟，故阴盛于夜而发也。或惊亦夜啼。
《惠眼观证》∶凡小儿生下一七至一百二十日，或至三、五岁才遇阴气，即便啼叫。大种夜啼，自有三说。
一∶心热者夜啼，只用朱砂膏及天竺黄散服之（方并见重舌门中，）兼以灯花涂乳上与吃。三、五岁者，宜以 汤丸疗之
（方见急慢惊风门中。）二∶脐下痛者夜啼，乃气血所滞，因而躁闷，以乌梅散（方见一切
疳门中）及槐角丸服之。候有见灯愈啼
者，乃心气热极。见灯不啼者，乃脐下痛，聊有所适，亦外作验也。三∶无故而啼，夜中面目青色不识人，此
邪气所畜，宜以符法及惊药相兼服食。有形证实者，以 汤丸通利。
《婴童宝鉴》小儿夜啼惊啼歌∶
小儿生下有三啼，一一从头为说之。邪热在心心内躁，忽然惊哭没休时。或因脏冷阴寒搏，或者神祗鬼
物随。夜里不眠啼至晓，夜啼根本各须知。
《千金》治小儿夜啼，至明即安寐。芎 散方
芎 白术（炮） 防己（各半两）
上三味治下筛，以乳和与儿服之，量多少。又以儿母手掩脐中，亦以摩儿头及脊。若二十日儿未能服散者，
以乳汁和之，服如麻子一丸。儿大能服散者，以意斟酌之。
《千金》治少小夜啼，一物前胡丸方
前胡随多少捣末，以蜜和丸如大豆。服一丸，日三服，稍加至五、六丸，以瘥为度。

交道中土 伏龙肝（各一把）
上二味治下筛，水和少许饮之。（陈藏器云∶灶中土乃四交道土。）

取马骨烧灰，敷乳上饮儿，啼即止。
《千金》治小儿夜啼不已，医所不治者方。
取野狼屎中骨烧作灰末，水服如黍米粒大二枚，即定。（《外台》云一枚。）
《仙人水鉴》∶孩子夜啼方。（上取小孩儿头发三、七寸，烧灰汤调灌。）
丁钉屋角并没彻，不如来取铅中金，黄丹少许熬令熟，剪取发毛烧灌。灵之。

上各等分捣，细罗为散。每服用水煎柳枝、桃枝汤调下半钱，频服效。量儿大小加减服之。
《圣惠》治小儿夜多啼不止，胸满气胀，膈中气逆，吐呕，腹痛。芍药散方
赤芍药 桂心 芎 黄芩 薯蓣
上各等分捣，细罗为散。一月及百日儿每服一字，粥饮调下。半年至一岁儿服半钱，连夜三、五服。随儿
大小，以意加减服之，神效。
《圣惠》治小儿夜啼，壮热惊惧。石膏散方
石膏（一两） 人参 龙骨（各半两）
上件药捣，细罗为散。每服一钱，水一小盏，煎至五分，去滓。量儿大小分减，温温服之。
《圣惠》治小儿夜啼不止，腹中痛。宜以乳头散方
黄 （锉） 甘草（炙微赤，锉） 当归（锉，微炒） 赤芍药 木香
上各等分捣，细罗为散。每服取少许着乳头上，因儿吃乳服之。

牡丹（三分） 代赭石 赤芍药（各半两） 麝香（一分，细研）
上件药捣，罗为末，都研令匀，炼蜜和丸如麻子大。每服以蜜汤研下三丸，连夜四、五服。
《圣惠》又方
上以牛黄如小豆大，乳汁化破服之。
《博济方》消积滞，顺三焦，利胸膈，定气刺、攻疰。胁腹胀痛，女人血气，小儿夜啼，多涎。并宜服万金丸
舶上硫黄（一分） 巴豆（去皮，秤半两。二味同以生绢袋子盛，于浆水内，用文武火煮
一伏时，令别研，令细） 附子（炮） 桔梗 当归 陈橘（去白。各一分） 柴胡（去苗） 青黛 干姜（各半两）
上为末，以面糊丸如小豆大。每服二丸至三丸，温水下。血气，醋汤下。小儿夜啼，温水下一丸。水泻，
生熟水下。血痢，地榆汤下。白痢，干姜汤下。化涎，生姜汤下。一切气，煎生姜橘皮汤下。

上取下涂乳上，令儿吮乳。
钱乙当归丸 凡小儿夜啼者，脏冷而腹痛也。面青手冷，不吮乳是也，宜此方。

张涣∶婴儿脏寒，禀气怯弱，或多囟解，面色青白，遇夜多啼，甚者烦闷，状若神祟，亦由触犯禁忌所致，此
名曰夜啼。宜用万全散方

天南星（二个，中心作蜗，内入朱砂令满，用不咸之水调中心，末涂缝上。握地作坑，
安天南星在坑内，灰盖定以火烧，色变取出为末） 全蝎（半分，末） 白附子（大者一个） 腻粉（一钱）
上件研令匀。每服一字，用薄荷金银汤下。
《万全方》治小儿夜啼及多肠痛，至夜辄剧，状似鬼祟。五味子散
五味子 当归（微炒） 赤芍药 白术（以上各半两） 茯神 陈橘皮（去瓤） 桂心 甘草（炙微赤。各一分）
上件捣，罗为散。每服一钱，用水一小盏，煎至五分，量儿大小分减，去滓温服之。

上令母脱去上衣，只着中衣，跪宅四角曰∶西方白帝，东方青帝，南方赤帝，北方黑帝，中央黄帝。乞断
某甲夜啼，荷恩之日，奉还酒哺，随意所用。还法安五畔，居中庭四角，故四角四畔，中央一畔，启颡胆五
帝说曰∶今日奉还，随意所吮愿之。
《刘氏家传方》小儿夜啼。
写∶若以色见我，以音声求我，是人行邪道，不能见如来。烧灰吞之，男左一本，女右一本。
《婴童宝鉴》灸法∶小儿夜啼，灸幼宫三壮，又灸中指甲后一分。
《万全方》灸小儿夜啼，上灯啼，鸡鸣止者。灸中指甲后一分，中冲穴一壮，炷如小麦大。
《巢氏病源》关于小儿夜啼的论述：小儿夜间啼哭，是因为脏腑寒冷。夜晚阴气旺盛，与寒气相互搏结，导致寒气扰动。寒气扰动与脏腑之气相并，使小儿感到烦躁或疼痛，因此导致夜间啼哭。然而，也有因触犯禁忌而导致小儿夜啼的情况，这时可以用法术来制止。
《茅先生方》记载：小儿在出生后的三个腊月之前，有半夜啼哭的现象，其证候属于阴证。遇到点灯前后开始啼哭，直到天亮不停止，如果见到这种证候，使用抹唇膏（方剂见本门中）。每晚涂抹上下两唇，同时使用朱砂膏（方剂见惊积门中），夜间不再啼哭，症状停止。
汉东王先生《家宝》关于小儿夜啼的论述：（各类书籍都认为惊啼属热，夜啼属寒。唯独汉东王先生认为夜啼属热，这是将所有啼哭通盘考虑的结果。）孩子夜间啼哭，并不是鬼神作祟，而是因为胎热潜伏在心。（母亲怀孕时如果遇到炎热的月份，或者喜欢吃热性食物，热气流入胞宫，出生后进入心脏，导致热入心而夜间啼哭。）阴则与阳相刑克，热则与阳相合。腹中躁动烦闷，所以夜间啼哭。（白天属阳，夜晚属阴。白天不哭，晚上就多啼哭。）
《水鉴》先生论述说：天苍苍，（天指上部。人以心为帝王，一身之主，所以称为“苍苍”，被外风所伤，所以说：“苍苍生其别物。”地王王，地指土。脾属中央戊己土，所以称为地。“王王”是盛的意思，“王”音同“旺”。这是指脾脏热盛。）小儿夜啼疏客堂。（心是神的居所，也称为客堂。“疏”即是转泻。）

《婴童宝鉴》论述小儿夜啼，认为是腹中有痛处并有神鬼作祟，所以在阴气盛的夜晚发作。受惊也会引起夜啼。
《惠眼观证》记载：凡是小儿出生七天到一百二十天，或者到三、五岁时才遇到阴气，立即啼叫。大种夜啼，自有三种说法。第一：心热的夜间啼哭，只用朱砂膏及天竺黄散服用（方剂均见重舌门中），兼以灯花涂在乳头上给婴儿吃。三、五岁的孩子，适宜用汤丸治疗（方剂见急慢惊风门中）。第二：脐下疼痛的夜间啼哭，是气血阻滞，因而躁动烦闷，服用乌梅散（方剂见一切疳门中）及槐角丸。等到看见灯光反而啼哭更厉害的，是心气热极。看见灯光不啼哭的，是脐下疼痛，稍微有所缓解，这也是外在的验证。第三：无故啼哭，夜间面目青色不认识人，这是邪气积聚，适宜用符法和惊药配合服用。有形实证者，用汤丸通利。
《婴童宝鉴》小儿夜啼惊啼歌：

芎藭 白术（炮制） 防己（各半两）
以上三味药处理后筛成细粉，用乳汁调和给婴儿服用，根据情况决定剂量。又让婴儿母亲用手捂住婴儿肚脐，也按摩婴儿头部和脊背。如果是二十天的婴儿不能服用散剂，用乳汁调和，制成如麻子大小的药丸服用。婴儿较大能服用散剂的，酌情斟酌剂量。
《千金方》治疗少小夜啼，一物前胡丸方
前胡随意多少捣成粉末，用蜂蜜调和制成如大豆大小的药丸。每次服用一丸，每天三次，逐渐增加到五、六丸，以痊愈为度。
《千金方》又一方
取交道口的土 伏龙肝（各一把）
以上两味药处理后筛成细粉，用水调少许给婴儿喝。（陈藏器说：灶中土就是四交道的土。）
《千金方》又一方
取马骨烧成灰，敷在乳头上给婴儿喝，啼哭即止。
《千金方》治疗小儿夜啼不止，医生无法治疗的方子。

取大虫眼睛一只制成散剂，用竹沥调少许给婴儿吃。

以上取下涂在乳头上，令婴儿吮吸乳汁。

张涣：婴儿脏腑寒冷，禀气怯弱，或者囟门不合，面色青白，遇到夜晚多啼哭，严重的烦躁闷乱，状若神祟，也是由触犯禁忌所致，这名叫夜啼。适宜用万全散方

《婴孺方》治疗小儿夜啼法。
以上令母亲脱去上衣，只穿中衣，跪拜宅院四角说：西方白帝，东方青帝，南方赤帝，北方黑帝，中央黄帝。乞求断绝某甲夜啼，感恩之日，奉还酒哺，随意所用。还法安放五畔，居中庭四角，故四角四畔，中央一畔，启颡胆五帝说曰：今日奉还，随意所吮愿之。
According to *Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases by Master Chao) regarding infant night crying: Infant night crying is caused by coldness in the viscera. Nighttime is when Yin Qi (Yin energy) is abundant, which clashes with coldness, causing cold to stir. This stirring of cold combines with the Qi of the viscera, causing either irritability or pain, thus leading to night crying. However, some cases are due to violating taboos, which can be stopped using magical methods.
*Mao Xiansheng Fang* records: Infants within the first three lunar months after birth may experience midnight crying, a syndrome belonging to Yin. If crying starts around the time of lighting lamps and continues until dawn, apply Lip Smearing Paste (formula see this section). Apply to the upper and lower lips every night, and also use Cinnabar Paste (formula see Palpitation and Accumulation section). The crying will stop at night.
Han Dong Wang Sheng's *Jia Bao* on infant night crying: (Most texts consider startle crying as Heat and night crying as Cold. Only Han Dong Wang Sheng considers night crying as Heat, encompassing all types of crying.) A child's night crying is not caused by ghosts or spirits, but rather by fetal Heat latent in the Heart. (If the mother was exposed to hot weather during pregnancy or consumed hot-natured foods, the heat entered the uterus, and after birth, entered the Heart, causing Heat to enter the Heart and resulting in night crying.) Yin conflicts with Yang, while Heat harmonizes with Yang. Restlessness and stifling sensation in the abdomen cause night crying. (Day belongs to Yang, Night to Yin. If the child does not cry during the day, they cry more at night.)
Mr. *Shui Jian* states: "The sky is vast" (Sky refers to the upper part. Humans regard the Heart as the Emperor, the master of the body, hence called 'vast'. It is injured by external Wind, hence "Vast generates distinction." Earth is Wang Wang; Earth refers to Soil. Spleen belongs to Central Wu-Ji Earth, hence called Earth. 'Wang Wang' means prosperity; 'Wang' sounds like 'Wang' (prosperous). This indicates excessive Heat in the Spleen.) Infant night crying disperses the Guest Hall. (The Heart is the residence of the Spirit, also called the Guest Hall. 'Disperse' means to drain.)
Qian Yi discusses night crying: It is caused by Cold in the Spleen leading to pain. One should administer warming middle-jiao herbs and perform exorcism rituals. Huahuo Gao (Flower Fire Paste) is the primary treatment (formula see this section).
*Ying Tong Bao Jian* discusses infant night crying, attributing it to abdominal pain and spiritual interference, manifesting when Yin is strong at night. Startle can also cause night crying.
*Hui Yan Guan Zheng* records: For infants from seven days to one hundred and twenty days old, or up to three to five years old, encountering Yin Qi causes immediate crying. There are three theories for major night crying. First: Night crying due to Heart Heat is treated only with Cinnabar Paste and Tianshuhuang Powder (formulas see Double Tongue section), along with applying lamp wick ash to the nipple for the infant to suck. For children aged three to five, decoction pills are suitable (formula see Acute/Chronic Convulsion section). Second: Night crying due to pain below the umbilicus is caused by stagnation of Qi and Blood, leading to restlessness. Treat with Plum Powder (formula see All Types of Malnutrition section) and Huaijiao Wan. If crying worsens upon seeing light, it indicates extreme Heart Qi Heat. If crying stops upon seeing light, it indicates abdominal pain has slightly subsided, serving as an external verification. Third: Unprovoked crying with blueish face and inability to recognize people at night is due to accumulation of Evil Qi. Treat with talismanic methods combined with anti-startle medicines. For tangible excess syndromes, use decoctions/pills to promote unblocking.
*Ying Tong Bao Jian* Song of Infant Night Crying and Startle Crying:
Infants have three types of crying after birth, let us explain them from the beginning. Evil Heat in the Heart causes internal restlessness, sudden startle crying without end. Or it is due to Cold Viscera clashing with Yin Cold, or spirits and ghosts following. Crying through the night until dawn, one must understand the root causes of night crying.
*Qian Jin Fang* treats infant night crying, calming them by morning. Xiong Qiong San Formula:
Xiong Qiong (Ligusticum), Baizhu (Bupleurum? No, Atractylodes macrocephala - processed), Fangji (Stephania tetrandra) (each half liang).
Process these three ingredients, sift into fine powder. Mix with milk and feed the infant according to capacity. Also, have the mother cover the infant's navel with her hand, and massage the head and spine. For infants under twenty days unable to take powder, mix with milk into pill size of hemp seeds. For older infants taking powder, adjust dosage as appropriate.
*Qian Jin Fang* treats young infant night crying, Single-ingredient Qianhu Pill:
Qianhu (Peucedanum) ground to powder in any amount, mixed with honey into pills size of soybeans. Take one pill, three times daily, gradually increasing to five or six pills until cured.
*Qian Jin Fang* Another Formula:
Soil from road intersections, Fulonggan (Dried Earth from Hearth) (each one handful).
Process these two, sift into powder. Mix with small amount of water and drink. (Chen Cangqi says: Hearth earth is soil from four-way intersections.)
*Qian Jin Fang* Another Formula:
Burn horse bone to ash, apply to nipple for infant to drink, crying stops immediately.
*Qian Jin Fang* Formula for persistent infant night crying untreatable by doctors:
Take bones from wild wolf feces, burn to ash. Take two grains size of millet with water, crying settles. (*Waitai Mi Yao* says one grain).
*Xian Ren Shui Jian*: Child night crying formula. (Take 3-7 cun of infant hair, burn to ash, mix with soup and灌).
Nails in roof corners do not penetrate, better to take lead gold. Fry yellow cinnabar slightly, cut hair and burn to pour. Effective.
*Waitai Mi Yao* Wen Zhong and Yinju effective formulas. Infant night crying unrest, due to abdominal pain, worsening at night, resembling ghost affliction. Wuwei Tang Formula:
Wuweizi (Schisandra), Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Shaoyao (Peony), Baizhu (Atractylodes macrocephala) (each 4 fen), Gancao (Licorice - roasted), Guixin (Cinnamon bark) (each 2 fen).
Cut these six ingredients, boil in one sheng of water to obtain five he. Divide doses, adjust as needed.
*Waitai Mi Yao*: *Gujin Luyan* formula for infant night crying resembling abdominal pain.
Insect (boiled until smoking), Shaoyao (Peony - roasted), Xiongqiong (Ligusticum) (roasted. Equal parts).
Grind these three into powder. Take dose size of Dao Gui (small measure), three times daily, with milk. (*Yingru Fang* uses wine).
*Waitai Mi Yao*: *Gujin Luyan* another treatment for persistent infant night crying with abdominal pain, Nurturing Nipple Powder:
Huangqi (Astragalus), Gancao (Licorice - roasted), Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Shaoyao (Peony), Fuzi (Aconite - processed), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger) (equal parts).
Make into powder. Feed via nipple. Pills size of broad bean, three pills, adjust by size. (*Yingru Fang* uses milk and honey pills).
*Zimu Milu*: Infant night crying, Hufen (Lead Carbonate) mixed with water to size of three beans, three times daily.
*Jingyan Fang* treats infant night crying.
Burn Dengxincao (Juncus effusus) to ash, apply to nipple for infant to eat.
Yao Hezhong treats infant night crying.
Take one large insect eye, make into powder, mix with little Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap) and feed.
*Shenghui Fang* treats infant night crying, cannot be suppressed. Renshen San Formula:
Renshen (Ginseng - remove rhizome), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Gancao (Licorice - raw cut), Chuan Dahuang (Rhubarb - cut, lightly fried), Shehuang (Snake Yellow?), Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis), Xijiaoxie (Rhino Horn chips), Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed - lightly fried).
Equal parts, grind, sieve into powder. Each dose: decoct Willow and Peach branches in water, mix with half qian of powder, frequent administration effective. Adjust by infant size.
*Shenghui Fang* treats infant night crying incessantly, chest fullness, Qi distension, rebellious Qi in diaphragm, vomiting, abdominal pain. Shaoyao San Formula:
Chishaoyao (Red Peony), Guixin (Cinnamon), Xiongqiong (Ligusticum), Huangqin (Scutellaria), Shuyu (Dioscorea).
Equal parts, grind, sieve into powder. For 1 month to 100 days infants, take one zi dose, mixed with porridge drink. For 6 months to 1 year infants, take half qian, 3-5 times overnight. Adjust by infant size, divine effect.
*Shenghui Fang* treats infant night crying with high fever and fright. Shigao San Formula:
Shigao (Gypsum) (1 liang), Renshen (Ginseng), Longgu (Fossilized Bone) (each half liang).
Grind these, sieve into powder. Each dose 1 qian, decoct in small cup of water to 5 fen, strain. Adjust by infant size, warm administration.
*Shenghui Fang* treats persistent infant night crying with abdominal pain. Nurturing Nipple Powder:
Huangqi (Astragalus - cut), Gancao (Licorice - roasted reddish, cut), Danggui (Angelica sinensis - cut, lightly fried), Chishaoyao (Red Peony), Muxiang (Costus Root).
Equal parts, grind, sieve into powder. Take small amount on nipple, feed with milk.
*Shenghui Fang* treats infant abdominal pain night crying. Mudan Wan Formula:
Mudan (Tree Peony Bark) (3 fen), Daizheshi (Haematite), Chishaoyao (Red Peony) (each half liang), Shexiang (Musk) (1 fen, finely ground).
Grind these, sieve to powder, mix evenly, refine honey into pills size of hemp seeds. Each dose: dissolve 3 pills in honey water, 4-5 times overnight.
*Shenghui Fang* Another Formula:
Take Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis) size of small bean, dissolve in milk and feed.
*Boji Fang* eliminates stagnation, smooths Triple Burner, benefits chest/diaphragm, calms Qi stabbing, attacks wandering pathogens. Hypochondriac/abdominal distension pain, women's blood/qi issues, infant night crying, excessive saliva. All suitable for Wanjing Wan:
Bo Shang Liuhuang (Imported Sulfur) (1 fen), Badou (Croton seed - peel, weigh half liang. These two in raw silk bag, boil in sour rice water with mild fire for one fushi, then grind separately fine), Fuzi (Aconite - processed), Jiegeng (Platycodon), Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Chenju (Tangerine Peel - remove white pith) (each 1 fen), Chaihu (Bupleurum - remove sprouts), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger) (each half liang).
Make into powder, paste with flour dough into pills size of small beans. Each dose 2-3 pills, warm water down. Blood/qi issues: vinegar water down. Infant night crying: warm water one pill. Watery diarrhea: raw/cooked water down. Bloody dysentery: Diyutang down. White dysentery: Ganjiangtang down. Resolve saliva: Shengjiangtang down. All Qi issues: Decocted Shengjiang Chenpi tang down.
*Mao Xiansheng Fang*: Infant night crying. Lip Smearing Paste:
Chanke (Cicada slough - one, remove feet), Denghua (Lamp wick ash) (two flowers), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (small amount).
Make into powder. If infant cries at night, mix with rooster comb blood, apply to upper/lower lips, stops crying. Combine with Zhusha Gao internally.
Qian Yi treats night crying Huahuo Gao Formula:
Denghua (Lamp wick ash) (one piece).
Apply to nipple, let infant suck.
Qian Yi Danggui Wan: Whenever infant night cries, it is Cold Viscera causing abdominal pain. Blue face, cold hands, refusing milk. Suitable for this formula.
Danggui (Angelica sinensis - remove rhizome, cut, bake, weigh), Baishaoyao (White Peony), Renshen (Ginseng - cut top, each 1 fen), Gancao (Licorice - roasted, half fen), Jiegeng (Platycodon), Chenjupi (Tangerine Peel - keep white pith, each 1 qian).
Make fine powder, decoct half qian in water, give small amounts frequently. For Heat Pain, crying incessantly, night onset red face scorched lips, yellow-red urine, use Sanhuang Wan, taken with Renshen Tang. (Sanhuang Wan formula see Excess Heat section).
Zhang Huan: Infant Cold Viscera, weak constitution, often open fontanelle, blue-white face, many cries at night, severe restlessness resembling spirit possession, also due to taboo violation, named Night Crying. Suitable for Wanquan San Formula:
Chenxiang (Agarwood - cut), Dingxiang (Clove), Renshen (Ginseng - remove rhizome), Wuweizi (Schisandra), Danggui (Angelica sinensis - wash, bake dry, each 1 liang), Chishaoyao (Red Peony), Baizhu (Atractylodes macrocephala - cut, each half liang), Guixin (Cinnamon) (1 fen).
Grind these, sieve to fine powder. Each dose 1 qian, decoct in light warm sour rice water small cup to 5 fen, cool, drip into infant mouth occasionally, immediate effect.
*Ying Tong Bao Jian* treats infant body heat night crying, refusing milk/food. Hongtao San Formula:
Tiannanxing (Arisaema - two, hollow center, fill with Zhusha, mix with non-salty water, apply powder to seam. Dig hole in ground, place Arisaema in hole, cover with ash, burn until color changes, take out and powder). Quanxie (Whole Scorpion) (half fen, powder), Baifuzi (Typhonium giganteum - large one), Nifen (Calomel) (1 qian).
Grind these evenly. Each dose one zi, down with Bohe Jinye Tang (Mint and Silver Needle Decoction).
*Wanquan Fang* treats infant night crying and frequent intestinal pain, worsening at night, resembling ghost affliction. Wuweizi San:
Wuweizi (Schisandra), Danggui (Angelica sinensis - lightly fried), Chishaoyao (Red Peony), Baizhu (Atractylodes macrocephala) (above each half liang), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Chenjupi (Tangerine Peel - remove pulp), Guixin (Cinnamon), Gancao (Licorice - roasted reddish) (each 1 fen).
Grind these, sieve into powder. Each dose 1 qian, decoct in small cup water to 5 fen, adjust by infant size, strain, warm drink.
*Liu Shi Jia Chuan Fang* Infant night crying.
Guijianmo (Arrowroot powder) (half qian), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (one zi).
Powder these, down with natural Bozhi juice (Mint juice).
*Liu Shi Jia Chuan* Another Formula:
Fresh Ginger juice, apply to back and heart center temporarily, cured.
*Kong Shi Jia Chuan* treats infant night crying. Guihun San:
Danggui (Angelica sinensis) any amount made into powder. One qian, water 6 fen, decoct to 4 fen, warm drink.
*Ji Shi Jia Chuan* Various Startle Crying, Night Crying. Zhusha Gao:
Zhusha (Cinnabar), Renshen (Ginseng), Baifuling (White Poria), Gancao (Licorice) (each 1 qian), Naoshe (Camphor and Musk) (small amount each).
Powder these, honey pills. Each dose one piece size of soap bean, down with Jin Yin Bohe Tang (Honeysuckle Mint Decoction).
*Ji Shi Jia Chuan* treats night crying Anshen San. Treats all startle crying.
Xijiao (Rhino Horn), Xionghuang (Realgar), Renshen (Ginseng), Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed) (each half liang), Fuling (Poria) (1 liang).
Five ingredients powder. Each dose 1 qian, down with Taoren Tang (Apricot Kernel Decoction).
*Ji Shi Jia Chuan Fang* Shuihong San treats infant night crying incessantly.
Fohua (Buddha Flower - three, also known as Mandrake flower), Ruxiang (Frankincense), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (each 1 fen), Shexiang (Musk).
Fine powder. Each dose half qian or one zi, down with red wine.
Rangyan Method (Exorcism/Aversion):
*Qian Jin Fang* treats night crying formula.
Feed infant food desired by mother during pregnancy, immediately cured.
*Waitai Mi Yao*: *Bixiao* infant night crying formula.
Lie supine before sunrise and at noon. On the horizontal crease above the navel, hold breath and write character "Blood" (Xue) with cinnabar. Crying stops that night, effective.
Chen Cangqi adds: Grass by well mouth treats infant night crying. Place under mother's sleeping mat, let mother not know.
*Zimu Milu* treats infant night crying.

Meng Shen: Infant night crying.
