Nash Shi Bing Yuan (Source of Diseases by Master Chao) on the Syndrome of Shi Zhu in Children: Shi Zhu is one of the Five Shi (Corpse Transmission). Regardless of age, everyone has "Shi insects" within their abdomen. These insects are inherently repelled by righteous Qi and tend to attract external pathogenic factors, causing joint harm. In children with weak blood and Qi, spirit and essence are also emaciated; thus, Shi Zhu arises as a disease. Its manifestations include taciturnity and inability to pinpoint the location of pain, alternating chills and fever, and lingering symptoms that persist for years, eventually leading to death. After death, it may transmit to others, hence the name Shi Zhu.
Zhang Huan discusses: Children can also suffer from Zhu diseases, which differ from those in adults. Over time, these diseases can transmit to others, affecting bones and flesh, similar to Shi Zhu and Gu Du (Poisonous Worm) conditions.
Wai Tai Mi Yao (Essential Prescriptions from the Imperial Library), citing Zhang Zhongjing, treats Fei Shi (Flying Corpse) in adults and children with Zou Ma Tang (Running Horse Decoction):

Preparation and Administration: Wrap the two ingredients in cotton cloth, pound them until extremely fine, add two he (approx. 200ml) of hot water, squeeze out the white juice, and administer. The patient should recover shortly. If not recovered, administer another dose. Dosage for elderly and children should be adjusted accordingly. This formula generally treats Gui Ji (Ghost Strike); those with Shi Zhu should keep this medicine for effective use. Avoid wild boar meat and reed shoots. Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang agrees.
