倘一息不运,则机缄穷而死矣。故二便不通,加以腹胀气喘,呕哕烦躁者,不可治也。凡二便秘,宜八正散;

The Classic states: "The black Qi of the North connects internally to the Kidney and opens through the two lower orifices." The two lower orifices refer to the anterior orifice for urination and the posterior orifice for defecation. It is further stated that the anterior orifice primarily governs Qi, while the posterior orifice primarily governs Blood. The fluids in the Bladder are transformed from Blood and are expelled through the propulsion of Qi; the transportation function of the Taiyin Spleen is driven by Qi and moistened by Blood. Thus, the smooth flow of urination and defecation demonstrates the interdependence of Qi and Blood. Human life depends on these openings for exit and entry. Clear Yang emerges from the upper orifices, referring to respiration; Turbid Yin exits through the lower orifices, referring to urination and defecation. If breath ceases even for an instant, the vital mechanism fails, leading to death. Therefore, if urination and defecation are obstructed, accompanied by abdominal distension, panting, vomiting, hiccups, and restlessness, the condition is incurable. For cases of constipation and urinary retention, Bazen San (Eight-Positive Powder) is appropriate. External applications such as the Umbilical Covering Method and Honey Suppository Method can ensure the patency of both anterior and posterior orifices.
