Nong She (Trembling Tongue) is characterized by the frequent trembling of the tongue within the mouth. This condition arises from Heat accumulation in the Heart and Spleen, leading to dry and cracked lips, accompanied by irritability, dry tongue, and foul-smelling stool. Xie Huang San (Spleen-Draining Powder) and Dao Chi San (Guiding Out Red Powder) are effective treatments.
[Note] When a child's tongue trembles in the mouth, it is due to Heat in the Heart and Spleen, resulting in scorched lips, dry tongue, irritability, and foul stool. One should first administer Xie Huang San (Spleen-Draining Powder), followed by Xie Xin Dao Chi Tang (Heart-Draining and Guiding-Out Red Decoction).
Xie Huang San (Spleen-Draining Powder)
Huoxiang Ye (Leaf of Agastache rugosa)
Shanzhizi (Fructus Gardeniae jasminoidis, stir-fried)
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum)
Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae divaricatae)
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis, raw)
Add Dengxincao (Medulla Junci) as a guiding herb; decoct with water for administration.

Xie Xin Dao Chi Tang (Heart-Draining and Guiding-Out Red Decoction) (See "Tu She" section for formula).
Chong She (Double Tongue) presents as swelling protruding below the tongue, resembling the shape of a tongue. This is caused by Heat accumulation in the Heart and Spleen rushing upward. Internally, Qing Re Yin (Heat-Clearing Drink) is indicated; externally applying Liang Xin San (Heart-Cooling Powder) yields the best results.
[Note] Chong She (Double Tongue) gets its name because the swelling near the root of the tongue beneath the tongue resembles a tongue. This is due to Heat in the Heart and Spleen. It is suitable to take Qing Re Yin (Heat-Clearing Drink) and blow Liang Xin San (Heart-Cooling Powder) externally.
Qing Re Yin (Heat-Clearing Drink)
Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis chinensis, raw)
Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae glutinosae preparata)
Mutong (Caulis Akebiae trifolatae)

Lianqiao (Fructus Forsythiae suspensae, heart removed)
Lianzi (Semini Nelumbinis nuciferae)
Use Danzhuye (Folium Phyllostachydis nigrae) water as a reference for decoction; administer frequently into the mouth.
[Prescription Song] Qing Re Yin (Heat-Clearing Drink) contains Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis chinensis), Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae glutinosae preparata), Lianzi (Semini Nelumbinis nuciferae), Mutong (Caulis Akebiae trifolatae), and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis); adding Lianqiao (Fructus Forsythiae suspensae) and Danzhuye (Folium Phyllostachydis nigrae), decoct together for natural peace.

Mu She (Wooden Tongue) is formed by Heat accumulation in the Heart and Spleen. The tongue swells and becomes hard like wood, indicating a generally ominous prognosis. Externally apply Chuanxiao San (Chuanxiao Powder) to the tongue; internally administer Xie Xin Dao Chi Tang (Heart-Draining and Guiding-Out Red Decoction).
[Note] Mu She (Wooden Tongue) is entirely caused by Heat accumulation in the Heart and Spleen. Since the meridians of the Spleen run under the tongue, and the tongue is the sprout of the Heart, when Fire rushes upward, it causes the child's tongue to swell fully, become hard like wood, and unable to move, hence the name Mu She (Wooden Tongue). Externally apply Chuanxiao San (Chuanxiao Powder) to the tongue; internally administer Xie Xin Dao Chi Tang (Heart-Draining and Guiding-Out Red Decoction). If not treated urgently, it will inevitably become incurable.
