How to perform pediatric tuina? It lies in the hand techniques applied to the Three Passes (San Guan). Pinching the Xin Jing (Heart Meridian) and Laogong (PC 8) points will induce sweating immediately in cases of heat, dispelling cold as easily as melting snow. If ineffective, heavily pinch the Er Men Shan (Two Gate Doors) point; profuse sweating will cause the symptoms to subside. To treat dysentery and watery diarrhea, heavily push the Da Chang Jing (Large Intestine Meridian) segment. Pushing sideways at the Tiger's Mouth reveals skill level; further pushing along Yin and Yang meridians differentiates cold from heat. Regarding coughs in both males and females, frequently pushing the Fei Jing (Lung Meridian) is the standard method. Moving through the Eight Trigrams from Li Palace to Qian Palace requires lighter touch in the middle. Generally, manipulating the Eight Trigrams opens the chest and diaphragm; pinching the Si Heng Wen (Four Transverse Creases) harmonizes Qi and Blood. When the Qi mechanisms of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs are blocked, moving the Five Meridians unblocks them. Poor appetite due to fright can be resolved by pushing Pi Tu (Spleen Earth); if food intake improves but the child remains thin, using the curved-finger technique to tonify the Spleen is effective without rest. Direct pushing clears heat, while curved pushing tonifies. For wind-fire fright in children, frequently push the finger joints. Prolonged constipation stems from accumulated heat in the Six Fu organs; apply treatment at Xiao Heng Wen (Small Transverse Crease) and Du Jiao (Belly Corner), and pinch one segment below Shen Shui (Kidney Water). Foul breath indicates Heart Heat, treated by clearing Tian He Shui (River of Heaven) from Hong Chi (HC 3) down to the palm, effective for myriad diseases. For persistent whole-body fever, rub Wai Lao Gong extensively. Regardless of high or low-grade fever, "Fishing for the Moon at the Bottom of the Water" is applicable. Techniques involving Tian Men (Heavenly Gate), Hu Kou (Tiger's Mouth), and Elbow promote Qi circulation and generate blood. Huang Feng Ru Dong (Yellow Bee Entering the Cave) treats Yin-cold diseases, including cold qi and cold phlegm. Pinching Yang Chi (Yang Pool) treats heart and head pain; Yi Wo Feng (One Nest Wind) treats severe abdominal pain. Wei Ling (Mighty Spirit) treats heart pain and sudden collapse; Jing Ning (Essential Peace) treats hiccups and choking. Upward rolling of eyes in both sexes is treated by heavily pinching Xiao Tian Xin (Little Heavenly Heart). Er Ren Shang Ma (Two People Mounting Horses) tonifies the Kidney Meridian, restoring consciousness upon improvement. Pushing the Three Passes on the left for males and right for females: upper heat recedes, lower cold becomes like iron. Cold is treated with warming methods, heat with clearing, deficiency with tonifying, and excess with purging. These are the savior's secrets left by immortals; successors must study diligently and cautiously.
Cold in the Heart Meridian results in lackluster eyes; facial redness indicates heat disease. Redness at Shan Gen (Root of Nose) signifies fright affecting the four limbs; progression leads to edema involving Yin and Yang meridians.
Explanation: Lackluster black pupils indicate Heart Meridian cold. Redness on both cheeks indicates Heart Meridian heat. Redness at Shan Gen indicates Wind invading the Heart Meridian. The area below Zhun Tou (Nose Tip) relates to evil pathogens. Edema across the Three Yin and Three Yang meridians suggests Phlegm in the Heart.
Cold in the Liver Meridian manifests as slightly blue complexion; heat presents with swollen eyebrows and redness. Whitening at the hairline invites fright; yellow at Shi Cang (Food Granary) indicates deep accumulation.
Explanation: Blue complexion indicates Liver Meridian cold, leading to fever and convulsions. Swollen eyebrows with red streaks indicate Liver Meridian heat. Whitening at the hairline and Yin Tang (Between Eyebrows) indicates Liver Fright. Yellow color on the cheeks indicates Phlegm in the Liver.
Yellow face indicates Spleen Cold; white at the Three Yang areas indicates heat disaster. Blue at the hairline indicates fright; yellow lips and mouth indicate food injury to the Spleen.
Explanation: Yellow face with reverse whiteness at Yin Tang indicates Spleen Cold. Whiteness at the Three Yang areas indicates Spleen Heat. Blue color at the hairline and Yin Tang indicates Spleen Fright. Yellow upper and lower lips indicate Spleen Meridian pathology.
White face indicates Lung Cold caused by chill; redness at Ren Zhong (Philtrum) and mouth tip indicates heat. Blue at Shan Gen indicates impending fright; redness at hairline indicates Phlegm as the enemy.
Explanation: White skin on the face and blue at Ren Zhong indicate Lung Cold. Redness at Ren Zhong and mouth tip indicates Lung Heat. Blue at Shan Gen indicates Lung Fright. Redness at the hairline indicates internal Phlegm.
Black face indicates Kidney Cold; red at Shi Cang indicates heat. Yellow at Feng Men (Wind Door) indicates fright invasion; sunken eyes indicate Phlegm affecting the Kidneys.
Explanation: Black complexion indicates Kidney Cold. Redness at Shi Cang indicates Kidney Heat. Yellow at Feng Men indicates Kidney Fright. Sunken eyes indicate Phlegm residing in the Kidneys.
