All five zang organs can lead to gan disease (a pediatric condition characterized by malnutrition and digestive dysfunction). However, it usually originates from damage to the spleen. The child presents with a sallow complexion, white lips, emaciated muscles, and a distended abdomen, along with sparse and upright hair. Only when the pathology of the spleen is resolved can the other zang organs be at peace.
Therefore, treatment focuses on tonifying the spleen. The tuina techniques should include dividing yin and yang (Fen Yin Yang), moving the eight trigrams (Yun Ba Gua), pushing the three gates (Tui San Guan) sparingly, and retreating the six palaces (Tui Liu Fu) extensively. Push the large intestine channel laterally towards the tiger's mouth (Hu Kou). Clear the Heavenly River Water (Qing Tian He Shui), clear the Kidney Water (Qing Shen Shui), perform "pressing the string and walking搓摩" (An Xian Zuo Cuo Mo), and heavily tonify the Spleen Earth (Bu Pi Tu). Use the formulas Yanshou Dan (Longevity Pill) or Jieming Liang Fang (Excellent Formula for Clear Vision); their efficacy is miraculous, and rescue is easy.
Pediatric gan disease, such as sequelae following vaccination, which flares up on cloudy days, requires no specific treatment. If caused by excessive consumption of raw salt or contraction of wind-cold, one session of tuina will suffice. Suitable techniques include dividing yin and yang, moving the eight trigrams, pushing the three gates, pushing the Lung Meridian, pinching the transverse crease (Qia Heng Wen), pinching the fingertips, heavily rubbing the Two Gates of Heaven (Er Feng Men), performing "Yellow Bee Entering the Cave" (Huang Feng Ru Dong), and rubbing the Kidney Water (Rou Shen Shui) to induce sweating. For mild cases, use the combining yin and yang technique (He Yin Yang), push vigorously along the Heavenly River Water from the total meridian (Zong Jing) up to the Quchi point (Qūchí, LI11). Use Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill), added with Cinnamon Twig (Rou Gui) and Aconite Root (Fu Zi), made into pills for oral administration, ensuring safety. However, the root cause is difficult to eradicate; adults may experience similar conditions.
Pediatric strangury with dysuria is due to fire pathogen and should be cleared. Techniques include dividing yin and yang, moving the eight trigrams, moving the five meridians (Yun Wu Jing), clearing the Kidney Water, clearing the Heavenly River Water, scooping the bright moon (Lao Ming Yue), and wiping towards the Dantian. If urination is frequent but scanty, occurring dozens or even hundreds of times, this indicates insufficient true fire failing to control water; tonifying primordial qi (Yuan Qi) is optimal. Techniques include dividing yin and yang, moving the eight trigrams, tonifying the Spleen Earth, tonifying the Kidney Water, moving water into earth (Yun Shui Ru Tu), and heavily pushing the three gates. For constipation of both urine and stool, divide yin and yang, move the eight trigrams, tonify the Spleen Earth, clear the Kidney Water, and move water into earth. For urinary retention, use moving earth into water (Yun Tu Ru Shui); for fecal retention, use retreating the six palaces and "Two Dragons Waving Their Tails" (Shuang Long Bai Wei). Apply a paste made of Scallion White (Cong Bai) and honey onto cloth. For urinary retention, apply to the scrotum; for fecal retention, apply to the umbilicus; cure is immediate. For dried-up kidney water and shortness, rub the Little Sky Heart (Xiao Tian Xin), tonify the Kidney Water, and tonify the Lung Meridian.
Fire eye symptoms manifest in three ways: upward gaze, downward gaze, or both eyes tightly closed. This is generally due to liver heat combined with wind pathogen; dispersing wind and clearing fire is ideal. Techniques include dividing yin and yang, moving the eight trigrams, clearing the Heavenly River Water, scooping the bright moon, digging the He Gu point (Tao He Gu - *Note: likely referring to a specific pediatric point or typo for Hegu*), tonifying the Kidney Water, performing "Two People Mounting Horse" (Er Ren Shang Ma), pinching the Yang Chi point (Yángchí, TE4), retreating the six palaces, and rubbing the Upper Sky Heart (Shang Tian Xin). For upward gaze, rub downwards; for downward gaze, rub upwards; for closed eyes, rub and wipe from the center outwards. For wind eye, the treatment is the same as above, except that retreating the six palaces is replaced by pushing the three gates. For eye distension and headache, push the Fengchi point (Fēngchí, GB20) segment. For upward gaze, drain the Heart Meridian and pinch Zhongchong (Zhòngchōng, PC9) and the transverse crease; for rightward gaze, pinch the right Duan Zheng point; for leftward gaze, pinch the left Duan Zheng point. Administer Yanshou Dan orally, taken down with Jiedexin Decoction (Dentary Grass Tea); recovery follows.
