Urine is white like rice-washing water. If prolonged, it may develop into *Gan* syndrome (infantile malnutrition). It is treated with Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), Zhu Ling (Polyporus), Chi Shao (Red Peony Root), Chi Fu Ling (Red Poria), Qing Pi (Citrus Unripe Peel), and Chuan Bi Xie (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome).
Heat in the Lung and Large Intestine causes a deficiency of body fluids, leading to constipation. Treatment utilizes Si Shun Qing Liang Yin (Four-Obedience Cooling Clearing Decoction). For cases where blood deficiency leads to dryness and stagnation causing obstruction, treatment utilizes Si Wu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction) added with Bai Zi Ren (Biota Seed), Song Zi Ren (Pine Nut Kernel), and Hu Tao Ren (Walnut Kernel). These are taken in equal proportions.
The son of Mr. Xu Meixuan, a gentleman from my hometown, suffered from seven days of fecal impaction forty days after recovering from smallpox. Other physicians prescribed Cheng Qi Tang (Ordering the Qi Decoction) as a single prescription. My uncle, who was at the Xu residence at the time, strongly recommended inviting me to attend. Upon examination, I found that the patient’s blood deficiency was extreme. Fortunately, purgatives had not yet been administered; if they had been used, the condition would have become untreatable. Mr. Xu felt both relieved and skeptical but insisted on administering one dose of Si Wu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction). The stool passed was loose and contained white mucus. Mr. Xu slapped the table in amazement, saying, "Diagnosed at a glance, how divine your skill is! Previous mediocre doctors nearly ruined the case." This observation of complexion and orifices serves as verification that the condition was not due to Lung heat.
Obstruction of urination results from Lung dryness failing to generate Kidney water. One should clear heat in the Lung and nourish the source of Kidney fire. Treatment is appropriate with Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthes Root), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), Mai Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber), Fu Ling (Poria), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), and Gan Cao (Licorice Root). These are taken in equal proportions.
If Spleen dampness prevents the ascending of clear qi, one should strengthen the Spleen to generate Lung metal (Earth generating Metal). First use Xie Huang San (Drain Yellow Powder), followed by Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction). If there is heat in the Bladder causing sluggish flow, treatment utilizes Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria).
Night sweats involve sweating all over the body during sleep, realized only upon waking. This belongs to Yin deficiency and is governed by Ying Blood (Nutritive Blood). Treatment is appropriate with Si Wu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction) added with Huang Bo (Phellodendron Bark), Fu Xiao Mai (Light Wheat), and Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), decocted for administration. Spontaneous sweating occurs intermittently and ceases with movement. This belongs to Yang deficiency and is governed by Wei Qi (Defensive Qi). Treatment is appropriate with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Ma Huang Gen (Ephedra Root), Fu Xiao Mai (Light Wheat), and Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber), decocted for administration. In cases of Spleen deficiency with diarrhea accompanied by spontaneous sweating that occurs at specific times, this indicates severe deficiency. Treatment is appropriate with Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction) or Fu Zi Li Zhong Tang (Aconite Regulate the Middle Decoction), using Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) and Da Zao (Jujube) as guides, decocted for administration.
Jaundice presents with yellow discoloration of the skin and is associated with the Spleen. It is generally caused by dietary injury to children combined with the accumulation of damp-heat in the Spleen and Stomach, resulting in this condition. When the face, eyes, fingers, toes, urine, and entire body turn yellow, it is undoubtedly Jaundice. Treatment is appropriate with Di Huang Yin Chen Tang (Rehmannia and Artemisia Decoction).
