Xianglian Wan (Fragrant Coptis Pill) (from *Ju Fang*)
Treats dysentery with mixed red and white discharge, where white exceeds red.
Process Zuojin Wan as described previously. Remove Evodiae Fructus, add Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) 1 liang. Make pills with vinegar paste. Take 50 pills per dose. Swallow with rice soup or Amomi Fructus (Sharen) soup as desired.

This heat originates below the Yongquan point (KI 1); although there is a sensation of heat, it does not cause thirst. This indicates heat in the Bladder; this formula governs it.

If flaccidity is accompanied by cold extremities, add half a Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix (Shufuzi). The tiger's nature is yin, yet vigorous and active, hence the desire for it to "hide" (lie low). Let the yin-nourishing medicines follow its nature, lying dormant, so they can exert their vigorous strength, thereby shading and benefiting the lower body. The knee and shin are where sinews and bones converge, possessing optimal efficacy. If using metatarsal bones, select according to the anterior, posterior, medial, or lateral aspects of the lesion; do not rigidly insist that the left anterior is superior.
