A person had two fleshy growths inside the eye, each about one cun long, as thick as a incense stick, protruding outside the eye. This is caused by malevolent spirits (Gui, 鬼). Although it involves Liver and Gallbladder Fire (Gan Dan Zhi Huo), without the attachment of spirits, such abnormal flesh would not grow. Use Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草) (each 1 fen), and Tinkal (Pengsha, 硼砂) (0.5 fen), grind them together into a fine powder until no grinding sound is heard. Mix a small amount with human milk (Renru, 人乳) and apply it to the tip of the growth. The patient will feel the eyeball swelling out as if burning, and within a moment, it will retract and heal. (Ibid.)
Another person suddenly had a fleshy growth in the ear, which could not be touched by hand, appearing red with a purple hue. This is due to Kidney Fire (Shen Huo) steaming upward into the ear. Use Tinkal (Pengsha, 硼砂) and Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片) (each 1 fen), apply locally, and it will instantly dissolve into water. (Ibid.)
If the growth is as large as a jujube pit, extremely painful and immobile, drip hot wine (Shaojiu, 烧酒) into the ear, keep the head tilted back for half an hour, and then it can be removed with forceps. (*Li Lou Guai Zheng Fang*)
A red line grew inside the nose, about one chi long; slight movement caused excruciating pain. People believed this was a disease caused by drinking alcohol. However, I believe otherwise; it is caused by malevolent spirits. Use Tinkal (Pengsha, 硼砂) and Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片) (each 1 fen), grind into powder, mix with human milk (Renru, 人乳), and gently apply to the middle of the red line. Suddenly, it feels as if someone punched the patient, and within moments, the line disappears. This is a miraculous prescription. This is because Tinkal (Pengsha, 硼砂) is also a substance that expels spirits. (*Qi Tian Shi Bie Zhuan*)
A person suddenly developed a sore on the tongue, protruding over one cun outside, with a yellow crust forming on top, making eating difficult. People believed the pathology was in the Heart, generated by Heart Heat (Xin Re), which is a plausible explanation but incorrect; actually, there are spirits attaching to it. The prescription uses Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片) (1 fen), placed inside a clam shell, where it instantly dissolves into water. Then, use a goose feather quill to sweep and apply it onto the tongue. The tongue immediately retracts, and normal diet can resume. Clams are substances of extreme Yin nature, used to attack pathogens of extreme Yin nature, causing the pathogens to retreat naturally. Furthermore, combined with the acrid-warm properties of Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片), which exhaustively expels pathogens, success is achieved effortlessly. (Ibid.)
This is toxicity from centipedes (Wugong, 蜈蚣). Urgently extract oil from Ricini Semen (Bimazi, 蓖麻子), make it into a wick, burn it to produce smoke, and fumigate the area to cause the swelling to retract. (*Chuan Jia Shi*)
